| For those of you are single with furbabies-kind of morbid I am posting this question because of another thread asking what would you do with your furbaby if they should pass. It got me to thinking about what I would do with my furbabies in the event of my death. Well I have another question along the same lines. What plans or arrangements have you made in the event of your death? I am single with a cat and my yorkie. I have often wondered what I should do to protect them in the event of my death. The truth of the matter is that there is no one in my family who would be willing to take them so I am at a lost as to what to do with them. My cat is 11 yrs and Brandi is 7yrs old. My biggest fear of course is if they were adopted my some psycho who would abuse and neglect them. I know this is morbid but I am thinking of including in my will in the event of my death I would prefer my furbabies be put to sleep as well. Any thoughts or am I the only one that thinks of this crazy stuff. |

| You could identify money in your will for their care. The difficult part is making sure it's administered well.

| I never gave it much thought, but I am sure my bf would take him and love him, or a family member, they all love animals.

| I also don't have any children but I do have a brother but he isn't the most responsible person in the world. He does love animals and I know he wouldn't abuse them as we were brought up with pets but he needs to get his life together. I am sure that if he wasn't so messed up right now and his life was together, I know he would take them. Who knows maybe one day he'll wake up and finally get it. My mother is in her 70's and is on dialysis so she may not have the energy for a dog. She does have a cat but they are low maintenance compare to a dog. My father loved animals but he has passed away. My immediate family is really small....just me my mom, my brother and my neice. She is only 15 so if I die before she becomes an adult she would not be able to take them. She loves animals as well. I do have a cousin that is a dog lover but she already has two dogs. I could offer to leave some money in return and she may go for that. I think my mom might be willing to take my cat but the last time I talk to her, she was like if her cat should pass away than more than likely she won't get another pet. This is something that does not keep me awake at night but it does enter my mind from time to time. Just wondering what others would do. |

| At this time, Sam's Nana is first in line and part of my life insurance policy is strictly set aside for Sam's care (vet, food, etc). In the event that something happens to Nana after me, then my niece has full responsibility with her Mom overseeing money until she is of age.

| It would be comforting to know that our Yorkie was going to be cared for by a member of YorkieTalk. I'm thinking of a database of volunteers as a contingency. Couple to the "will" with funds to provide for care.

My niece has a list of names from YT that would be considered to care for Sam, in the event that she cannot take care of him or something happens. She is 16 but well informed on what needs to happen in case something happens to me.

| I am also single, and I have made arrangements for all my critters if something happens to me. My sister will take my dogs, a good friend of mine will take my horses, my other sister will take my cat, and my daughter's ferrets will most likely go to my ex so my daughter will be able to keep them. I don't think it's morbid at all to discuss this...in fact, I think it's a great idea. I made these arrangements a long time ago, while I was still married, because my husband always said he would just sell everything if I passed away, and that was not acceptable to me. |

Another option is to have a family member or friend post on YT asking for someone to take him/her. You'd need to make sure they do screening. Arrangements with a Yorkie Rescue may be appropriate under some circumstances.

| I have made provisions in my Will that my furbabies breeders are to be contacted to see if they will take them. If not (or if there is no breeder info), they are to go to a no-kill shelter and the funds from my Estate used to pay for their care until they have found new homes. I have gone so far as to insist that the dogs go to the same home. I have also let my Power of Attorney and emergency contacts know my wishes.
