I am also single, and I have made arrangements for all my critters if something happens to me. My sister will take my dogs, a good friend of mine will take my horses, my other sister will take my cat, and my daughter's ferrets will most likely go to my ex so my daughter will be able to keep them.

I don't think it's morbid at all to discuss this...in fact, I think it's a great idea. I made these arrangements a long time ago, while I was still married, because my husband always said he would just sell everything if I passed away, and that was not acceptable to me.
