| I didnt have time to read thru this entire thread (I would need a few aspirin and a pot of coffee) but I couldn't help but notice that the OP is associated with another Bay Area breeder on YT that recently posted ads on a free classified board advertising tiny puppies from a 3lb dam and 1.5lb (I will pass over the fact about the outrageous prices for now). For those of us who try to protect the breed it is infuriating to see threads like this and ads like the one I mentioned above. It just goes to show you the lengths people will go to and the risks they will expose their dogs to for the almighty dollar... |

| I am trying very hard not to post and to be fair on both sides and to truly understand. BUT it is so hard to sit back and try to understand why a breeder that knows the risks would still want to in danger the life of their so called pet And risk the off spring. Besides the structure of a tiny (1-3lb) and this is not the case in all. They are usually roached back, Have such small mouths and their teeth decay so fast causing infections that can go anywhere in the body, And when this happens you have the risk when they are put out that they might not ever wake up and this goes for spaying or neutering. Hypoglycemia can be very scary on a tiny they have no body weight to go on if they do get sick and drop fast. To find a vein on such a small baby is so hard so you have to act fast. And then it is also the public that are buying these popular sizes that don't understand the risks involved with falling, getting stepped on getting vaccines can even be risky~ And I do understand that these things can happen to any size yorkie, Why take the chance??? IMO it is not because of the demand it is because of the $$$ A 4-? lb yorkie is just as cute (and still a toy size) as a 1-3lb one. As breeders we are responsible for our actions ! The buck stops with us~ So please educate ~ And buyers please ask questions~ You want a healthy happy well socialized yorkie that can be part of your family for many years to come ~ But I do thank all the responsible tiny owners that love and care for their babies they all need this |

| I truely hope that with my post I do not offend anyone but the thread I started in the breeders section was closed but this thread is still allowed to continue? My thread was being a decent thread with NO arguing or flamming and it was closed. I guess my point was proven. Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |

was it that good breeders are stifled? i am sorry you feel that way. i thought the admin. or mod. or someone explained to you why the thread got closed? (i don't remember which thread) if i remember correctly, your thread was titled " good breeders are stifled" or something like that? i don't know what the reason admin. or mod. said they closed it, but personally, i think it's sounds pretty rude towards the site. there truly are a lot of people wanting to learn here. i want to learn. just because some people do not listen to good breeders or are rude towards the good breeders doesn't mean we all feel that way. i don't feel that way. i am here to learn. | |

I didn't write it, but I'm guessing it's a generic "you".

Brooklynn, if you start a thread that's on a subject besides your trials and tribulations here, I will be sure to read it, as I'm sure you have lots of interesting things to say about breeding and showing.

| YT Addict | I have also set back and not said much on this post because it went from Show or pet to sizes. About the sizes I have some of all sizes. I am a breeder but the small female I breed is 4lbs. I do have a 1lb female that was a puppy off of my largest female (7lbs) Many of you may remember reading about keylee. She will be a year old july 1st. She is under 1.5lbs. I would never breed her!!! But with that said that I have full grown yorkies and maltese from 1lb up to 7lbs. I see pictures every day on the net and they will say their dog is 1lb, 2lbs or 3lbs and they look no where the size of my Ace which is 2.10lbs stud or Keylee. They look more like Maggie which is about 4.5 lbs. I am not sure if they just lie about the size of their dogs to bring the price up, or if their scales are off. Maybe my scales are off. I would not think so. I think some breeders just misrepresent there dogs sizes. More likely they are breeding 4lbs dogs and calling them 2lbs. At least that is what I have saw. But knowing how some people are and they don't think of the health of their dogs, this is why I kept Keylee. I would not ever trust anyone with my little baby. And I will say for any of you that thinks you may want a 1 or 2 lbs grown dog, it is like having a newborn all the time. You can not leave them more than a few hours. You could never work or go to school for 8 hours with a 1lb yorkie at home. If anyone has the web sites of some that are breeding the 1-3 lbs yorkies please send it to me. I would love to see if they have the pictures of their adult on their site. (most don't) Something else to think about. My vet told be that he has had other vet friends call him and say that some breeders are also lieing about the Birthdays of the puppies. People thinks they are getting a small 10 week old puppy and it is really 5-6 weeks old. (so you really are not getting the t-tiny puppy you thought you was getting. ) Just to let you know this is going on out there to push the price up for small puppies up, & they are not even the tiny ones anyway. Just alot to think about. the best size is 4-7lbs !! |

If you have more questions about those reasons, please PM admin instead of re-hashing it here. Thank you.
