You have to be home all the time to be a breeder and willing to dedicate yourself to your dogs you need to be there by there side when they are having puppies giving them support especially new mothers that have never had puppies before to me when you are breeding dogs as far as size goes if you want to make a quality dog the 2 dogs your breeding need to be correctly matched up according to genetics and size i would never breed a 7-lb dog to a 3 pound dog to get more puppies that will be smaller this would not be correct if you have a 7-lb female she needs to be breeding a 5or 6-lb male to make a nice square dog if you have a 4-lb female she need to breed a 3 or 4 -lb male this i correct to make nice square dogs that are healthy when you breed tiny males to bigger females yes you get some smaller dogs and bigger litters but are those small dogs healthy no they are the runts of the litter the puppies that got the least amount of nutrition inside the mother when you breed according to size and get a healthy litter of 2 or 3 healthy little dogs this is correct to me why make tiny yorkies if there not going to be healthy or square. As for flaws nothing is pefect in life people can have 4 healthy beautiful children then have a unfortunate child that is mongilion or lacking something it is the same with dogs you can get a genetic defect that arrises from 12 generations ago this is just the way it is i don't claim to be a show breeder but i do have tiny healthy puppies and i have been very successful in what i do i love my dogs they are my life and they all love me there not in cages they sleep with me and live with me and i dedicate my time to them completely theres not a day that goes by that everyone is not loved on petted combed and cared for in my house and it took me years of exsperience and knowledge to do this i also had a wondeful mentor who had been breeding dogs for 50 years to help me to me this is the key to all of this breeding pets to be carried around in purses dressed up in dresses and bows and being loved is ok to it just depends on how you do this.thats what important to me

I realize that not every good breeder can show, but it should never be implied that show breeder's dogs don't make wonderful pets, and I'm a little tired of people acting like a 6 pound dog is a moose. So my advice is that even if you aren't planning to show or breed and want a pet only, go to an ethical breeder, one who really knows the breed, and the problems associated with it, and is fully aware of the problems associated with tinies! This is exactly true in MHO ~ If you are a responsible breeder you should learn as much as you can and breed to produce as close to standard as you can.And number one being health #2 disposition (sp)and all around healthy happy well socialized Yorkie ~ And continue to grow and learn I try to learn at least one new thing a day ~ Lol I might not remember it tomorrow Just remember everyone has a different opinion or reason for breeding or showing . The most important thing is are Yorkies

And the one that will pay the price is the breed itself the YorkiesIMO and from 20 years of breeding only Yorkies OHHH I have learned so much ( and will continue to listen and learn) We need to educate the Yorkie buyers.When the buyers STOP the demand this will stop the breeders. I better add IMO ! I do not breed for undersized yorkies or oversized but sometimes it happens and mother nature steps in. But when I have one that is tiny I go to every measure to try and make sure that this baby ends up in the right home . And I try to do this for every puppy I have.And then I still worry all the time that I will get a call or email that something went wrong! But I would hope that all us breeders worry about this ! i also believe that they key to stopping this whole thing (breeding for tinies) is education. most people are not well informed, and that is why they look for a tiny. i think the issue needs to be addressed. instead of just saying. "no, breeding tinies is bad because i said so, the end" i think takes a lot more than that.

the reality IS sad, but i think we should all do our part to try to make it better.

Alot of my thoughts on the subject(s) discussed have already been laid out in detail...no need to hash them back out.

I don't agree with breeding tiny dogs, no matter how experiences you are. And to justify it by claiming that you are doing it to meet the public's demand for tinies is absolutly ridiculous. I'll be darned if I would ever put my dogs at risk just to supply the public with what they wanted. Typically, when people are wanting a "teacup or tiny", that indicates to me that they have done very little research on the breed. Seems like the most sensible option would be to help educate them on the subject, not subject dogs to unethical breeding practices to meet their demands.

Furthermore, I think that ALL dogs should be bred to be the best possible representation for their respective breeds...both standard and temperment. Why should focusing on those details be of importance ONLY with show dogs?

As far as the issue of picking on people's grammatical skills...I can completely understand the point that was trying to be made and agree. Ironically, it was stated several times that people only bring that up when they want to divert attention from the subject at hand. Hypocritcal, don't you think? Essentially, you are doing the same thing.
No, none of us are perfect and we ALL make spelling errors and typos. (I know because I have got to be one of the worst spellers to ever walk the planet!) But, generally speaking, people's perception of individuals IS partially based on how others conduct themselves...and that includes their basic grammer and the way they present themselves through speach, or in writing in our case here. If you think it's being judgemental, and claim you are not guilty of the same on some level, then you are seriously kidding yourself.
