Is your Yorkies Tail Docked?

I grow the hair on Thor's tail extra long so I can see it wagging more easily. He is cute with a docked tail, but I too would like to see tail docking and ear cropping become illegal.

I guess that's more signs that Thor did not come from a good place, because his tail was docked, presumably to make him saleable, but his dew claws were not removed.

wow i didnt know people had the option to docked or not to ...i thought it was just a rpocedure you had to do when your baby pup was born i had 2 yorkies in my life and both had their tails docked...i have never seen one with a long tail...i am going to go look it up..I bet it is supper cute

My rubys tail is docked i like it she shakes her bum even more.

My Suzi does ot have hers docked. However, she has a very small tail. I think is so cute .
IMO, It is a very unatural process to put a animal through. Yes, it is called a Standard Practice. but, a dog is not born w/o a tail, then I feel it is a cruel, barbaric, outdated , awful , treatment of any breed of dogs. please Dont hate me , YT members , for expressing that

Madison's tail is docked. I love both!! If I had my choice, my next yorkie would have a full tail!!

I would like to see the standard for Yorkies in the US changed so that full tails are the standard. Until the standard is changed, people will continue to dock Yorkie tails. Unfortunate, but true.

I also think ear docking of other breeds is wrong.

I don't really understand the issue with dew claws. Perhaps there is some advantage to removing them. But if not, I think removal of dew claws should also be banned.

It's my understanding that dew claws don't serve any purpose - most dogs are born without them. I think there's a specific reason it can benefit the dog to have them removed, but I can't remember it offhand. Thor has a few and it's not a big deal, they just need to be clipped.

My old yorkie had once dew claw that was not removed and it was a pain in the butt his whole life. This dew claw always curled inward and would stick him in the leg if I did not remember to cut it back every once in a while. The good thing was it did not seem to have a quick (or if it did, it was very far back towards his paw), so it did not bother him when I cut it like his other claws, and I could cut a lot off with no pain or bleeding.

ALmost all of the yorkies I see have docked tails, the VAST majority in the US. When I see one that is not docked, it is has almost always been an import. I think they look better with a docked tail and are easier to handle (I like to carry mine on my forearms a lot), however, I would not mind if they were not docked. As far as the pain goes, we humans do lots of snipping that is painful when we are babies, and the mental scars dont seem to effect us (at least I can't seem to recall when I was snipped).

For some dogs, the dewclaws provide extra traction for running and making quick turns. For most dogs it is considered a weak digit prone to getting caught and breaking away.
