| How long til pups hair changes colors?? I have a 6 1/2 month old yorkie. He is tiny (2lbs) and his hair is still black and tan. I had let it grow out but decided to give him a puppy cut for the summer. Both of his parents were very light tan and blue and his siblings hair had already changed to tan on their hads within a few months. The hair on his head is a mix of silverish and tan and the black almost looks burgundy when the light hits it. I'm just hoping he doesn't stay black and he changes soon. I've been told it usually happens around six mnths, but still nothing. I can't see any reason why he wouldn't but who knows. Anyone here that can help me out??? He isn't a chocolate yorkie either....

| Some yorkie will stay dark, but the face will still change from the black/tan face to all tan. his body may still stay dark. But yorkies can change color a few times until they get the "final" coat. Uni changed very early, about 3 months she started to change. She used to have a very defined grey "racing stripe" between her eyes too, but now it is all blonde. Whatever your baby changes to you will love it. I wanted Uni to be darker but I get so many compliments on her blonde face now, I love it.

| They all had blondish roots on their heads since they were like a month old. I guess having a dark colored yorkie isn't a totally bad thing, but its not up to "standard" and I really was hoping he'd turn out like his parents. Either way,I will always love him.... (but I still hope it lightens up) lol

| Teddy is 6 months old and tiny also and he still has the black and tan hair. I've got him groomed several times and it grows back the same. I have noticed his head is starting to become a little lighter but no dramatic change....but this post probably does not help you either haha. |

| General Lee's face changed from black to tan along with his upper head before he was a year. His body is still black with a very little bit of silver. He is kept in a puppy cut year round with it really short during the summer. I have been told that it could take up to a couple of years before the changes are complete. He is just a little over a year and a half. |
