Are male Yorkies just as good as females?

Here's food for thought. My female marks outside, every two feet. She stops and starts, sniffs, marks, starts up again. Never saw a female dog mark like Sadie. It takes a long time to get around the block.

Sadie and Suzi have something in common.... She is the same way. oh well, I guess their are too many of the male hormones rushing in their genes.

I have always, always preferred male dogs over females. I feel that males bond better with me (being a female). My Tater, my male Yorkie, is a sweet little cuddlebug. I have a female as well, she is wonderful, but much more independent. Tater is glued to my hip (he is laying in my lap as I type) while my female is usually near enough that she can keep an eye on me (she is laying at the opposite end of the couch currently). I think you will be happy with your new sweet baby boy!! Tater was a marker until I got him neutered, but I believe it was because he came into a home where my roommate had a male. I do encourage neutering him when he is of age good luck!!

Not hairy enough unfortunately (but that's another thread...), but does have a deep bark. Let's put it this way, I have an unfeminine female.

I am no expert in male yorkies... BUT. my babyBoots (male yorkie) has given me the most pleasant experience (he is my first dog)... he was paper trained from 2 1/2 months. made some mistakes sometimes but now at 18 wks! he's awesome!!! =)

I forgot to mention that Skeeter has never marked. He does lift his leg to pee on the fence but I'm pretty sure that is to keep his fur dry and not a marking male kind of thing. He usually pees twice when he goes out but in small amounts. He has always gone more frequently than Adie but Adie has a bladder the size of a walnut and can hold it for hours!

Skeeter was neutered as soon as he weighed enough in the vets eyes so it was pretty early.

my guy is 100% pee pad trained!!! he does not mark his territory anywhere in the house (not even when we get new furniture). i've had female and male yorkies and i think the lovingness is dependent on their personality, not their gender. hope this helps...

You know, I really don't think Winston marks territory at all...he does lift his leg to pee and always has. He's trained to go potty outside and is neutered. But even while out on walks he is totally concentrating on the walk and does not mark. I really believe this is taught not instinct. He was a breeze to train, he has never, since he was 8 weeks old, had an accident of any kind in the house. He is an only dog, but I did have another male Yorkie before him and we have many dogs in the neighborhood. He pees...but he doesn't mark.

I have 2 males... we are still having housebreaking issues at almost 4 years old, but for the most part they both go outside. One is fixed and one is not. I have more problems with my boy who is not fixed. However I just adore my boys, they are sooooo loveable and just love their mommy! They were just what the doctor ordered in my life! All that unconditional love in one little package! You will not be disappointed getting a little boy!

I met 3 adult Yorkies before getting Ellie. One was a girl and she is the one I bonded with best. She made me want Ellie. So of course I wanted a female. I also like that some of the females have that really bossy, Yorkie-type sassy personality. I just like having my little girl and I don't think that will ever change. The boys are sweet and I would have one. I'm not really into all whole boy behavior thing though. And Ellie does mark. She has done it inside and she does it outside. She squats and gets up and squats again as many times as possible, so we walk on the sidewalk instead of grass when possible.

I have a little 7 month old intact yorkie (I know I know but he just now reached 3lbs) getting him fixed next month. Anyway he has never marked or hiked his leg for that matter. We had him completely pee pad trained at 3 months now he goes outside. I dunno maybe he is a slow developer in that way lol. We puppy sat our grandaughters chi 2 weeks ago and he spent half his day going from spot to spot outside marking but not in the house. Our little man is the most loving affectionate furbaby we have ever had (we had girl pom's in the past) We are getting Lolita in a couple of weeks and am hoping for the same from her. She is a rescue from a byb though so I am sure she will need adjustment time.
