| My Yorkie misses his mate..what do to? It has been a month since we lost our female Yorkie suddenly. My male who is 4.5 yrs. old. Seems so lost without her. He goes crazy when I come home and seems to miss having another dog to play with. I play with him, I walk him and give him a lot of attention but he seems to have a void. Is it me? Am I thinking with my heart because I miss my other Yorkie that passed away so much? Is my male really lonely? I was trying to find a Yorkie his age but I am not having much luck. Is it practical to get a puppy and he is almost 5? Can he be happy being the only dog in the house? Any thoughts would be great.

| Look on YT for people re-homing their dogs. That's how I just got my 16 m.o. spayed female Yorkie. All I had to do was go to Arkansas and pick her up. She is an absolute little doll. She's 9 lbs. of chubbiness and the most adorable little face. We got home Thursday night @ 8:30. She has fit in just perfect with our family of 2 male dogs. She acts like she's known us her whole life instead of a little over 48 hours! Check Craigslist pets in Sacramento where you live you might get Lucky there. I've helped 2 people get their Yorkies from there and everything has worked out great. Try calling rescues and visit the Pet Finders site on the Comp. They list Yorkies and Yorkie mixes that need homes all over the US. I wish you Luck in finding a playmate for your male and was very sorry to hear about the sudden passing of you other dog...

| I feel for you & your little pup. It sounds like you are doing the right things for both of you. I'm sure he is grieving & hope that time will help him feel not so sad, just like people. This isn't the same situation, but I had lucy, by herself, for 4 years & then got pebbles. Pebbles was only 9 months old. It has been the best thing for lucy, she is more active, happy & actually even trimmed down some weight. Maybe a younger pup would not be a bad thing for your little guy. to both of you....

| I lost my Becca unexpectedly this time last year after 11 wonderful years. Alexander, 12 at the time, was heartbroken (as was I). I really worried that I was going to lose him, too. I found Chelsea and brought her home just a few days after losing Becca (Chelsea was a puppy). It was the best thing I ever did!! She drove Alexander crazy but she kept him occupied, entertained him and gave him someone else to give his affection to. My yorkie family has grown a lot since then but I thank God every day for sending Chelsea into our lives to save Alex. Also, I think her being a puppy helped his adjustment because there was no competition or dominance displays between them. He took her under his wing, protected her and 'showed her the ropes'! He spoils her rotten to this day - she can get away with anything with him lol!

| I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my sweet Annie suddenly in 2008 and Boo (5 yrs old at the time) was as grief stricken as I was. I was amazingly blessed to be able to have Gracie Ruth join us just 2 short weeks later. She was 3 months old at the time and she and Boo got along fabulously. She was all puppy and terrorized him sometimes, but he has the patience of Job with her and he could always jump up onto the couch when he really had to get away from her. She brought a lot of life back into the house and Boo & I were most grateful for that.

| Clarence was my Mum's little guy & when she passed away, he got really depressed. Even though she'd been in a nursing home for 9 months battling brain cancer...it was like he sensed her. She passed on Sept 3rd 2001...by November I was looking for a friend to cheer him up...along came Keegan...he was born on Sept 1st,2001...& he helped both of us to start to heal our broken hearts. |
