| I would never put a collar on my dogs. Not even the soft ones from walmart that someone suggested. WHY? because they can get caught in too many things. You had a horrible experience. i would have freaked out too. I am so glad your baby is alright. I hope others take your post to heart. |

| Thank heaven's you were home. I am glad your furbaby is ok. I can't just imagine how frantic the two of you were. Scary. I only use a harness. I am sure you'll find something safe that works for the two of you. |

| www.gotags.com is where I've been getting my collar charms and tags. They even have the name and telephone number embroidered into the collar. Riley wears his harness 24/7, but also a collar just for his tags. |

| I am so glad you were home when this happened to your yorkie, phew! Glad he is Okidoky, well scared but alive and well. I use harness only on my 3, the id tag is on the metal loop of the harness, the 3 are so used to it, they don't even remember its there.

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh my gosh, how terrifying! I am so glad he is okay and that you were right there. This is the collar tag I use for Marcel - you can also see they sell a velcro break-away collar: Boomerang Tags

| else to worry about Dax's collar...I can't let him wear his tag because he's always getting it in his mouth....he won't stop and I am afraid of choking or tooth breakage. He is very weird about a harness...I've never seen anything like it...He won't play or run around he just acts like he's being punished...He acts the same way when I put clothes on him. Was curious if anyone else has this problem. My solution to the id problem is to write my phone number inside his collar with a sharpie. I don't know if any will see it if god forbid he got lost. Thanks for the warning and I will check out that website with the collars.... |

| I use a length of 3/8" elastic to hold their tags and bells (can't get any cheaper than that!). That way, if they get caught on something, they can back out of it. It's only to hold tags; they're also chipped. When we go out, they all have harnesses. But accidents happen, and if they get out, I want them to have readily identifiable ID, not just a chip that no one but a Vet can see, and only if he checks. |
