| Mommy with a bit of trouble ... Help? Hi everyone, Im in a little perdiciment, I had just purchased a new little yorkie boy about a week ago, he is only about 9-10 weeks old. I already have a 3 year old toy poodle, who I believe is a little jelous of him due to her behaviour and her used to being the only baby in the house. He is a rowdy little rascle as I know puppies are and like to bite EVERYTHING, but he is always jumping on her biting her pulling her ears and they fight. My problem is that I dont know if theyre play fighting or really fighting and it makes me nervous everytime they do to the point im splitting them up each time. Its never really gotten to the point that I hear one of them cry or anything, maybe it happened once, but sometimes I see my 3 year old biting him on his head. It doesnt seem to be strong biting, again i dont hear him whimper or anything but im still not sure and makes me worried. Could anyone tell me if I have anything to worry about or should I just let them play? As well how can I get her over the jelousy thing? I would appreciate any help anyone can give me |

| That sounds like puppies playing to me! If they were fighting, I bet the poodle could really do the lil guy in so the fact that there isn't any crying and they keep on with it, sounds like getting to know eachother and having fun! |

| I don't think you have to worry. Cash (2 years) and June (12 weeks) play rough, but he stops if she cries. It is best to leave them alone. If you sense tension (staring at each other, etc.) simply walk out of the room to dispel the tension. Also, your poodle is now your baby's mommy, so if the poodle snarls and snaps sometimes, it is absolutely fine. She is teaching him doggie manners. The poodle will get over the jealousy issue with time. All dogs love having a pal and they will be great friends soon. Again, use your judgement when they are playing, but remember not to interfere since they only see that as another dog added flame to the fire. So simply walk away if you think they are going to hurt each other. Good luck.

| I dont think it is anything to worry about. It sounds like just playing. But even it does go a tad further, The poodle was in your house first and has to show the baby that he (the poodle) is in charge. or as my vet tech explained to me, that the new baby is lower than dirt. Her explanation not mine. A year and a half later My poor Zeke the Lhasa, is STILL trying to show Baxter that he is the boss, while Bax is the lower than dirt. Well Baxter refuses to believe it lol. He things he is boss, and is turning Zeke around lol

| Believe me, I understand, but this is a case where the "dogs know best". My other two dogs (a 91 pound German Shepherd and a 19 pound "teapot" yorkie) have totally put my little man (3 pounder) through puppy boot camp. But he still harrasses the big dogs something silly! I don't think the GSD would ever even nip at him, its not his nature, he just rolls him out of the way with his head (that is hilarious, when they are on a tile floor the baby just swishes across the room!). But the other Yorkie, well, he has snapped at him a few times. Pretty much "watch it pipsqueek" stuff. But you have to let them sort themselves out, or you will spend the next 10 years playing referree. they have to sort out the pecking order. Most yorkies, no matter how small, think they are the TOP of the food chain, so, it is occasionally noisy. But generally safe. Good luck. |

| Even if it is play fighting or working out pack order, just make sure you are always in the room with them when they are together, at least until your baby is older and you know what their relationship is and how it works out to be Congratulaitons on your new little one
