In The Search For a Yorkie Like This?

I am interested in a Yorkie of this quality, a Yorkie that can produce that type of coat. I know that is a show yorkie. Some tell me that it is hard and almost impossible to find a Yorkie like that. Is that so?

When I feel I am ready what question do I ask the breeder on how I can buy a Yorkie of that quality? How do I explain this?

I am a rescuer. I have 3 rescued furkids as of now that I spoil rotten. I don't consider my dogs "my dogs" I consider them my kids and a part of the family. I rescue, foster & sponsor shelter dogs as well as volunteer at my local shelter. So this is going to be very new to me. I am a VERY experienced dog owner. Have had dogs of all ages. But the reason I am considering going to a breeder is because I am looking for a Yorkie of that quality, that I can raise and know its bloodline and its health etc.

If you buy your yorkie from a reputable show breeder, then I can almost garantee that your yorkie will look like a show quality. The definition of a reputable breeder is one that breeds to breed's standard. Therefore to better the only breed. As long your yorkie's pedigree consist of mostly champions, then it should look like what a yorkie should look like. Reputable breeders strive to produce dogs that conform to the breed's standard. Show or pet quality, that puppy should look like its parents, grandparents, ect. My maltese Gigi was held back for show, but couldn't be shown because her bite went slightly off, too small to be bred, shy personality, so she would be sold as a pet. Neither of Gigi's parents were Champions, but Gigi's pedigree has mostly champions in it. Her breeder told us her parents did not like the show ring, but she felt they both were perfect examples of the breed standard.
Although Gigi has some minor faults, everywhere I take her, everybody always ask if she is a show dog.

You do not need to buy a show quality yorkie to get show quality looks. Whoever told you that was wrong.
I personally don't think that yorkie in the picture is show quality either. It looks like a nicely groomed pet quality. lol JMO

Well I am a rescuer, fosterer, sponsor, adopter, rehabilitater and I volunteer at my local shelter. I will always continue to do these things. I am wanting a Yorkie from a breeder just because iv heard nothing but good stories. I want a dog that I can raise from 12 weeks, a dog that I know is healthy, I know its bloodlines, I know its history, A dog that has no history that I can raise to be perfect, I can train, I also want a dog that I can do therapy work with, I want a dog from a breeder that I can train to be a role model to all my shelter dogs that come in etc etc. Its like when your fostering kids. Its a joy and wonderful but theres nothing like giving birth to your very own child. If you get what I mean? Even when I do get a Yorkie from a breeder, I will always continue to foster, sponsor, adopt, rehabilitate etc. etc. Its not something I just do its a way of life for me.

That is a beautiful yorkie, I don't have any advice on how to find a breeder that has what your looking for but I would think that your best bet would be to maybe go to some shows and start meeting show breeders. Since you have time on your side you should be able to come up with some good prospects.

Are you planning to "Show" him or her? Or will it be a "Pet"? I personally have 3 Yorkies. When I decided to get a Yorkie, I was very strict on exactly what I was looking for.......I insisted on getting a Yorkshire Terrier that looked and acted like a Yorkie according to the AKC. Standard. In fact the picture that you used as an example looks exactly like him! I have'nt posted a recent picture, he's 5 yrs. old now it took awhile to get his "Grooming" routine right.
IMO it's a combination of "Good Breeding"/Genetics, "Good Bloodlines"/Pedigree
as well as Diet & Grooming and alot of Conditioner! You just have to find a Good Breeder and ask the right questions and don't settle for anything less.
All Yorkie puppies are Cute, Adorable and very easy to fall in Love with, but there is no way to predict exactly what they will look like when they grow-up?
Even though I never planned on "Showing" him I still wanted him to be "Show" quality to look like a Champion, even though he is a "Pet". I was very Lucky to find the right Breeder that was Honest and had Integrity, which is very hard to find now a days.

I agree 100%. If you get a puppy from a reputable show breeder, it will be very close to the breed standard. Whatever keeps it out of the show ring will just be slight imperfections.

There seems to be the assumption here that there is no way to predict what your Yorkie puppy will look like as an adult and that is simply not true if you go to a reputable breeder. It's the puppies from backyard breeders that grow up to be so far from the Yorkie standard.
