| Where did you get your Yorkie? Breeder? Rescue? Mill?? Just wondering where everyone found their dogs. Did you but straight from a breeder with a good reputation? Maybe a breeder that you later learned had a bad rep? Did you buy from a puppy mill even though you may not have known it at the time? I want to know how much research people put into their dog. I put in a lot of research AFTER finding my puppy and I realize I'm still very happy with my choice. I didn't end up being duped by a puppy mill or bad breeder. I can see how easily that could happen. I would like to hear stories of how your love ended up in your home!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I bought Cali from an add in the paper, BYB and Cali was had multiple medical problems including hypoglycemia, liver shunt and allergies. Thousands of dollars in vet bills, then I found YT and learned so much and got Pixie and Roxie from a reputable show breeder and have been very happy with them.

| I got Ziggy from a locally owned pet shop. I know that's usually bad, but my step-mother's aunt owns it. The lead groomer also has a Yorkie from the same Sire, but not the same Dam. This pet shop isn't the cages lined up on the wall, it's very nice. Each puppy litter has their own little area, about 3 ft. by 5 ft. They have toys, beds, blankets and water bowls- they have feeding times so no food bowls usually. He's CKC registered and no problems. Though he was the 'wild' one of the litter, so much energy. So, I am/was very pleased with the shop and if I was looking for another Yorkie I'd probably go back. |

| Missy came from what you would call a BBB. It was this ladies first litter and she said that she isn't likely to breed her Yorkies again. If she does, I'm definitely buying another one! Missy has been a gem

| I saw Jackson in an ad online... Kiji or something. She was what I'd consider a backyard breeder. It was an accidental breeding. She was very nice about the whole thing though and very responsible and felt bad about what had happened and she would keep them all if she could! She said the puppies slept in her room ever night by the floor, and she was immediately getting her boy fixed who got together with her new roomates Yorkie, whom she thought was spayed. I'm VERY happy with my choice and wouldn't want Jackson any other way!!!

| I have 4 yorkies. My first from a disreputable (told me the puppy was full grown at 4 pounds ) BYB. Tia is now 19 pounds and the love of our life! No health problems what-so-ever. Cooper - a breeder with a good rep. Great little guy - almost 3 yrs - no health probs - 6.6 pounds Oliver - a home breeder. Had 2 females and one male. Adored her doged but didn't over breed them. 2 yrs - 9.9 pounds and no health probs so far. Abbi - online - know nothing about the breeder - but (gulp - I hate to admit this in this forum!!!) I've always wanted a small yorkie. She's 6.5 months - 2.7 pounds and my vet says shes extremely healthy, great bite, very strong heart. I know things can change, but I'm crossing my fingers and saying my prayers. I joined Yorkietalk after getting Abbi ( my youngest baby) and have learned so much!! Of course, I won't be getting another (unless my husband is out of the picture - LOLOL), but I continue to learn each and every day. My vet was totally amazed at what I was doing for Abbi when she had "the runs" and I couldn't get her to the vet. She said it was "professional advice". I was giving her pumpkin, plain yogurt and pedalite (sp?). She's pretty sure this is what kept Abbi alive during her bought before I coule get her on antibiotics. SO - THANK YOU YORKIETALK!!!!!!! XOX, Michele :-) Last edited by rtsmichele; 05-05-2009 at 06:57 PM. |

| Thanks everyone! I consider mine a home breeder also but a very responsible one. She is the one who informed me about hypoglycemia, etc. even before I agreed to purchase the puppy. I'm certainly not looking to show my dog so for a pet, I'm very very happy. However, I don't even have her!!! Friday is the day!

| After losing our 13 yr. old toy Poodle, Nicole, and my grieving for about 7 yrs. and threatening "death" to Patrick if he even hinted for another pet .... he began his campaign!! He began his "hey, look at this" and every time I would look at his computer screen, there was a tiny little Yorkie face. I would give him a dirty look and say "don't even start"!!! He kept this up for about a year and he finally "met" Ava Tyree over the phone. They talked on the phone for a few months and I finally agreed to "look". We were working in MO and she lives in Marietta, GA and had three babies she was evaluating for show. We were at our home in AL, "Mr. Pushy" set up an appointment to look, she brought the first one [Toto] out and I looked at the first Yorkie that we had ever seen in person. That tiny little 1 1/2 lb. piece of fluff looked at us with that tiny little piece of tongue sticking out of her mouth and owned us!! We didn't even look at the other two! We have been "servants" to Her Highness .... "TyAva's Out of Oz, Toto" for over five years!! She proudly wears us around her little tiny paw and we can't even describe how much we love her! It really pays to take your time and look and research before making one of the most important decisions you will ever make. If you find a wonderful, caring breeder like Ava, you can be assured of a healthy pet. She is totally dedicated to her Yorkies and strives to better the breed. I don't know of another breeder with a better line than hers. Toto is our joy!

| I got Baron from a great breeder who is about 10 minutes from my house. I had looked for a Yorkie female for about 9 months after losing my German Shep. Raine. I called about one that was being re-homed, he had been placed But, The breeder lived right beside the woman who had the dog for re-homing. There were 5 male pups. I went to just look...Well, Baron will be with me 1 year on May 13th. He's a male, I wanted a female, But, I saw that cute little Brillo Pad Teddy Bear Face and was wrapped around his little paws! On Sunday we leave to pick-up a little girl that is being re-homed by a YT member who lives in Arkansas. Today, May 5th is my 30th Anniversary, So my Husband and I are tying the two together. I can't wait...
