| Stupid Owners!!! Ok so its been a strange experience!!! We had 3 babies born 22 Jan this year and within 3 days of advertising them they had all found lovely new homes and had some people come for miles! Well one of the pups who was actually the first one to go was the most gorgeous little man, but wasnt yorkie infact he came out lhasa like his mummy. Easter Sunday we get a email from his new family after they had homed him for 4 weeks, saying because of a change in circumstances she couldnt keep him so she brought him back and we gave her the benefit of the doubt she was really upset about having to bring him back, she had had him wormed, fleaed and vaccinated by the vet and when we offered her money back she said not to worry about it, and came 3 hours later bareing puppy and 4 large bags of stuff for him!!! We decided he would now not go anywhere else even tho she asked us to advertise him and find him another home we couldnt do it to him. So we told her he would stay with us and we would email her every so often so she could see how he was doing... 6 days later we get another email from her saying she wants him back, that she had resolved the situation that prevented her keeping him and would come the same day or the following day to get him... We had to speak to police and a dog warden to find out where we stand about having to hand him over because we didnt want to send him back but she had paid for him and we were informed that actually she could come and get him if she wanted even tho she had rehomed him to us, so we was told to offer her the money back and tell her she could not come and get him and hope that she doesnt contest it and after a few emails back and forth and us basically telling her to get stuffed she couldnt expect us to do that too him she gives in and says she would look forward to recieving her money back I couldnt believe the neck on the woman and also that if she hadnt accepted the money she could have reported us and got him anyway. How does that protect the dog? Or even the new owners! I stated in the email that i sent her that if i had emailed her 6 days after she first took him and said we wanted him back she would have rightly said no, but what i cant believe is there is no law or protection that says i couldnt have done that, (in the case of animals given away free) not sure what happens the reverse when there is money involved. will post pics in the other forum! Tell me what you think of this situation |

| That is horrible! I'm glad in the end she accepted the money and you were able to keep him. It does make you curious what the "situation" was that made her unable to keep the pup initially, yet could be resolved so quickly...

| She sounds pretty unstable to me. Pays to get everything in writing and I am talking to myself too. I trust people too much. I am so glad that baby is staying with you. |

her neighbours walked her previous dogs for her while at work and they asked if she would walk the new one and the neighbour apparently agreed which led them to us..... then the monday before she brought him back to us the neighbour then went "funny" and refused to walk the dog. When she said she had resolved the situation this is what she has done, arrainged for 2 dog walkers she found online to walk him during the day and her husband was going to put a cat flap in so he could get into the garden. Well we wasnt happy with this because 1 he would be on his own all day till 6PM and 2ndly if he got into the garden through the cat flap and got stuck he would be out there till somone got home in all weathers. This wasnt the only issue we had as to why we wouldnt send him back we just felt in general it wasnt fair on him or our dogs to have the upset of having to leave again even if he had been back only 6 days he was only 11 wks old and we wasnt going to do it to him | |

| Sorry this all happened to you and your little pup but at least you have him and know he is being well taken care of. I would have done the same thing. When someone acts that casually about giving back a pet and then asking for it again a few days later, they are not showing real concern for the pet. They are thinking of it as more a possession than making them a member of the family. I think we all learn when someone posts things like this. I will remember your post and if anyone ever offers a puppy back to me I will be sure to have them sign that they are surrendering the puppy to me and giving up all claims to him/her. I would not have thought to do that without hearing your story. I think we find it so strange that anyone could ever give back one of our amazing puppies we don't think through all of the possibilities.

| I think in the future you could create a contract with the new owners, saying that you will gladly take a pup back, refund the money, and that you are not obligated to give the pup back if they change their minds, blah, blah, blah - something like that may protect the *pup* |

| Well we thought it was odd too and we did give her the benefit of the doubt because she said the neighbour was a rather elderly woman, so i suppose fair enough if she changed her mind but they should have had a back up plan and i also dont understand why you would get another dog knowing full well you would be at work all the time, hardly fair but then she wasnt really thinking of him. |
