Please don't take this meanly (because I'm just wondering), but what makes you think that this little guy/girl is a parti? From looks no this is not a parti. A parti is half biewer and half yorkie. Parti's come out looking biewer. Parti-carriers come out looking like regular yorkies. Although my opinion is that "parti's" are mutts. There is NOTHING WRONG with MUTTS. It just blows my mind that people think they can slap a HUGE price on a mix breed and call it "designer". HMRPH!!! But that's just me I love them all the same (not so much in love with the INSANE prices thou, ie $4000). LOL

I'm confused too. I think they are yorkies, but some say no. Well if they originally came from 2 pure bred dogs with a piebald gene, how can they be anything but a yorkie. Isnt piebald a color gene? That doesnt really have anything to do with wether or not they are pure bred. Piebald gene can happen in any breed and in any animal as well. Check out Wikipedia/Biewer Terriers.

The picture you posted is not of a parti but of a blue and tan traditional colored yorkie. There are many shades of blue and tan, the photo you posted is a silvery blue shade. The standard likes to see darker, steel blue shades in the show ring. Beautiful coloring regardless but not a parti.

First, a parti is not half biewer and half yorkie, that cross would be what the Biewer world calls a "splitter". Splitters are traditional colored but carry the spotting gene from their Biewer colored parent.

A parti (AKC registered) is all yorkie. Parti color has appeared in our breed since the beginning of the breed. Even though traditional colored dogs with unknown heritage were used to start this breed, it was the hidden recessive genes they harbored that are still being passed on in our dogs today.

Ernest Hemmingway's grandfather, owned a white yorkshire terrier named Tassel in the early 1900's; well known and highly respected old time breeders from the 1920's-1980's, had parti color showing up in their litters (some lines more often than others). Today, Parti color continues to appear in litters from 2 traditional colored parents, surprising their unsuspecting owners (the parents both carrying the recessive parti gene).

If you consider parti colored yorkies as "Mutts" or "Designer breeds", they are no more a mutt than their traditional colored parents, siblings and previous standard colored generations are. Parti's are considered "off color" but so is the silvery blue and tan yorkie and the black and gold yorkie - yet those 2 colors are not considered mutts?

It's all in the genes and in some cases lack of genes, that make up the colors we see in our yorkies.

You may wish to read the link I provided. Your information is totally incorrect.

Biewers are not parti's....parti's are not biewers. Neither are a mix and they certainly are not considered a "designer" dog.

I would also disagree that parti's look like biewers...because most do not. Biewers have specific colors and placement. Parti's do not.

you have your information all wrong. A parti has nothing to do with a biewer. A parti is a color type of the yorkieshire terrier. It can be registered as a yorkie in AKC but cannot be shown because its color is a fault. Half Biewer and Half Yorkie is called a Splitter. These are NOT mutts. They come from the same original line of yorkies. Biewers breeders in germany decided to take the colors they found and run with it to create their own version of the breed. I have a splitter and no one can tell the difference between her and a yorkie, because she IS a yorkie...

In situations like this i like to think of the cocker spaniel. The cocker spaniel is recognized by the AKC as three different breeds. There is the Black Cocker Spaniel, ASCOB Cocker and Parti-Color Cocker. If you were to breed a black and an ASCOB you would not get a mutt. you probably get a cocker with a color that couldn't be shown. still a cocker tho.

Carl Yochum judged "Best in Show" which Biewers were in the ring. Actually, he chose a Biewer as 2nd place "Best In Show". This was great for the Biewer Terrier as he finally got his eyes and hands on the breed to see for himself what a true purebred Biewer Terrier is. And he has agreed, it is a breed for its own. Yahoo!

I wish Carl would have judged the Biewers in the IABCA show. He is an EXCELLENT judge and approved for almost all the toy breeds.

Carl Yochum is such a wonderful person. What a smart man to go out there and see for himself what a Biewer Terrier is and what is going on out there with this breed getting confused with the Yorkshire Terrier and the Tri colored Yorkie. The YTCA can be very proud to have such a wonderful President running their club! Smart man.

Thank you for correcting me. well I stand corrected, parti's are not mixes. Well the people who breed parti's correctly ARE NOT "mutts". But lets be honest here. There are some people out there who are just in it for the money. And as I find out more and more about the truth behind different "breeds" variations and the like, I get so furious about how people choose to breed. But on the other hand those puppies deserve just as a wonderful life as any of our purebreds. I do apologize for my misunderstanding/confusion.
