What is a Biewer?
 
I am new at this. Is this another type of Yorkie? If so.... whats the difference?

Google it. They are gorgeous! I have yet to meet one in "person" but I can't wait to. They are imported from German and are a cousin (best way to explain it) to yorkshires. They are not yorkies nor are they a variation of yorkie. They are their own breed. But yet to be recognized by AKC. Oh wish/hope they will be soon!

THe first beiwer came from 2 standard yorkies. They have a double recessive piebald gene. Biewers, unlike parti yorkies, have a breed standard and a set color pattern. They are also their own breed in germany. The AKC has yet to recognize them but hopefully they will soon.

my yorkie is a splitter. She has a biewer mother and a yorkie father so she is considered a carrier of the biewer colors with a single recessive piebald gene. You wouldnt know it by looking at her tho.

Biewers came from two traditional colored yorkies who both carried the recessive spotting gene called the Irish spotting gene, which produces a consistent and predictable spotting pattern. Biewers have their own breed standard and set color pattern because they were ineligible for registration with the official breed kennel club/registry so they began their own club and registry.

Parti's follow the breed standard set by the YTCA (with the exception of their coloring) and most parti's have the piebald spotting gene which produces random and unpredictable spotting - thus they don't have a "set color" pattern standard. Parti's are eligible for registration with the AKC but are banned from showing in AKC conformation classes, due to their off standard coloring.

These dogs are gorgeous but are really hard to come by. There doesn't even seem to be a breeder in the UK yet?:aimeeyork

My understanding the UK's strict import laws plays a role in that.

Here is a link to the lead Biewer Terrier Club of America (BTCA). The only proven purebred Biewer Terrier. This is the club that had Carl Yochum, President of YTCA judge the Biewer Terrier Specialty in Orlando.

I've dreamt for a chocolate/biewer FOREVEr and now my dream is finally coming true. And she both (not show quality since she's too lite of a biro but still perfect in my eye, and she wasn't even bred to be this color) eeepppp, I can't wait
