In situations like this i like to think of the cocker spaniel. The cocker spaniel is recognized by the AKC as three different breeds. There is the Black Cocker Spaniel, ASCOB Cocker and Parti-Color Cocker. If you were to breed a black and an ASCOB you would not get a mutt. you probably get a cocker with a color that couldn't be shown. still a cocker tho. |  Great explanation
