| New puppy today...nope...on hold! We were supposed to get our new little guy today, but he had a little bit of an episode earlier in the week. The breeder thought that it would be best to keep him for atleast another week to keep an eye on him. We want him to come home so bad, but want him to be healthy though as well!! What happened was it sounded like the little guy had a hypoglycemia attack earlier this week. When our breeder went to check on him he was having a seizure and his gums were pale white. He was given some karo syrup, and did snap out of it. He's eating some on his own now again, and the breeder is syringe feeding him some as well to ensure he's getting enough nutrition. He's currently 10 weeks old, and weighs 1.5lbs. It's been several days now, and it seems like he's back to his old self. It's crazy that he was perfectly fine up until this point! Were going to go visit him tomorrow! Keep your fingers crossed for this little guy to stay healthy, so he can come home with us next week sometime!!

| From time to time puppies can have hypoglycemia . The breeder did a very good thing about keeping the little one for another week . |

| It is for the best. Most breeders dont release them untill 12 weeks and sometimes longer for tiny ones like him. Just be patient

they learn a lot from their moms and siblings. like bite inhibition, and socialization in general (both VERY important). and for this reason, usually good breeders will keep their dogs till at least 12 weeks before letting them go to new homes. from my personal experience, i got milu at 20 weeks, and it was wonderful. because she was able to sleep through the night at that point. so i never had to go through the stage of waking up every 2 hours that a lot of puppy owners had to go through. best of luck to you and your furbaby. don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions or need help with your new puppy.

| What everyone is saying about waiting until 12 weeks is so true. In the UK, you rarely get pups staying with the breeder past 8 weeks and my last Yorkie (16 years ago) was allowed to come home at 8 weeks....I love her to bits....but...I just got my new pooch this week and a pup that is socialised with their mum and siblings is a whole other world! She is placid, never bites or nibbles me, extremely loving...it may be unrelated, but it seems different this time. It was horribly hard, I know how you feel . The breeder I got Bluebelle from wouldn't even let me hold her because they were unvaccinated. I have never wished my life away so much as these past few weeks! I hope you wee one feels better! |

| I feel the same. 12 weeks is better especially, since he's had an episode. A couple of more weeks is nothing compared to how long you'll have him for. It's really best to let him stay and be healthy and truly ready. Getting him too early can impact him for the rest of his life. Elaine |

| Oh I completely agree, the breeder is wonderful for not letting the little guy go early! She is very experienced, and knows how to handle those situations very well. In fact, we got our current yorkie (Maci) from her a few years ago, and she is a gem! The only thing that is worrysome is that his two siblings are leaving this weekend, so he's going to be left alone until he comes home with us. I know he's in good hands though, and it's best for him! And it's not for sure that he even would come home with us next week. We would love him to, but if he has to stay longer....we'll just have to wait!!
