First and foremost, PARVO is highly contagious and I hope you are not planning to add an additional puppy on May 15th! Please do not consider this as she will most likely get PARVO as well. It can live for a very long time (any one with how long??) even after Yoda has been cured.

You also said that Yoda is a mill rescue...............are you saying that you purchased him from a pet store that gets puppies from a mill and you bought him because you wanted to same him????? Or does this pet store sell mill rescue puppies?????

Finally, you said that the pet store wants to give you a new puppy. Do they want to take back Yoda and give you a puppy or just give you a second puppy for free???? I understand that you would not give him back which is good because he would be euthanized or left for dead if you were to give him back at this point. I am glad that you are taking care of him.

Did the vet explain to you how to disinfect your home to kill the PARVO virus? I believe this is very important step in making Yoda well. If you bring him home and reuse the puppy toys, blankets, bedding etc that he used while he had PARVO I do believe that he can get it back. You need to sanitize your entire home to kill the virus and there is also a length of time before adding any new animals to your home to keep them safe as well.

I know it is easy to miss posts as a thread gets longer and sometimes I post before I read all the way through. But thought I wold help a bit as I understand.

She did not say from a pet store....she said for "the dreaded store." Then she clarifies in post #15 of this thread..."The dreaded store is a puppy mill!" So, she rescued the little one by buying him from the puppy mill which she also calls "the dreaded store."

From what I understand in her posts, the "store" wants to gie her another puppy and she still keeps Yoda. She thinks they want her to sell the new puppy to pay off the vet bills. She is contacting her attorney.

Not sure if the vet explained about disinfecting the house but several have mentioned that to her. Cannot imagine that a vet would let a dog still sick with parvo come home without the information. But as I understand it, he does still have parvo. They are in the midst of trying to clear it.

No I did see post #15 and then that is when I got really confused and did a search to try and figure it out. I am totally not trying to start an problems.

To the OPer~did you go to a breeder and found it was a puppymill when you got there? If Yoda came from a puppymill/"breeder" and they are offering you a second puppy that one probably has it as well! Then you could become liable for vet bills fi you were to sell it!

But the second puppy on May 15th from a thread that was posted a while back which I believe is a different puppy than the free one that is now being offered to her because Yoda is sick. She stated that she already had Yoda and was planning on bring a Princess home on May 15th. I was concerned for this puppy as well because of PARVO being so contagious.

It sounds like you are taking great care of Yoda and on the right track by contacting an attorney. I wish you lots of luck with both Yoda and your legal battles.

I paid for Princess Laya the end of April through a TOTALLY DIFFERENT reputable breeder. My first intention was to get her as a GIRLFRIEND for Yoda. I already paid another $600.00 for her, with only $300 of that being refundable if I do not take her. I was told as long as I cleaned my home well, she couldn't get it. And now as I read more and more I understand I would just be risking her lil health to. Just to absolutely clerify. Yoda can from a pet store which does their own yorkie breeding there. It reminds me of a sweatshop. This is where I have people confused, I should have been way more specific from the get go. Now, I have 1 sick pup, 1 pup on the way (that now I am not sure what I can do) plus a pup that this horrible place wants to give me for "my troubles".

He keeps down the food from the syringe but just refuses to take it on his own. I wouldn't call him lethargic, I would just say extremely tired. He is laying in my bed and I am getting ready to give him another try at the feeding and if he doesn't respond, he will have to take the syringe.

That is what I had figured out when I went back to your older posts. Well except for the Yorkie Sweatshop. I would be very afraid to bring Princess Laya home any time soon. Parvo can be everywhere in your home, yard, bed anywhere that Yoda was it can still be there. It can live in your grass in the yard for months! This is why I was so worried about you bring home a little girl. Tell the Yorkie Sweatshop breeder thanks but no thanks. DO NOT take the free yorkie. If Yoda got Parvo from there the other puppies have also been exposed.

My suggestion would be to call your reputable breeder and explain how Yoda has Parvo. If she cares about her puppy she will be understanding. The puppy cannot be brought into your home safely without being fully vaccinated and then titers drawn to ensure that it will also not catch parvo.

What has your vet told you about disinfecting your home? I believe it is bleach and water mixture to EVERYTHING! INCLUDING the grass in your yard!!

Dogs acquire infection with Parvo virus by ingesting (meaning to swallow) the infectious virus particles. The Parvo virus is one of the hardiest viruses known to science and this virus can live outside the body in a dormant yet infectious state for one to two years. Puppies do not have to be in direct contact with other dogs to catch Parvo since the virus can be spread by people's clothing, shoes, and other inanimate surfaces, and can even travel on the dust in the air. A dog (or puppy) who is shedding the Parvo virus can defecate (go to the bathroom) on a surface and then a susceptible puppy can come by and sniff or lick this surface over a year later and can still catch Parvo.

It also said that a new puppy cannot be brought into the home without being fully vaccinated and titered for the Parvo virus. This is VERY serious so PLEASE do not bring another puppy home. I really feel so bad for you that you are going through this but I also want you to understand how serious this really is for both Yoda and Princess Laya! Please call the breeder and explain what is going on in your home right now.

Do you have an emergency Vet you can call during the night, if you need one?

As for Princess Laya, I think I read you need to bring her home May 15th? Is there anyone that can puppysit for you until Yoda is completely well, and it is safe to bring her home? If not, will the breeder keep her a little longer?

No, Sweetie, don't let that pet shop off the hook by accepting another one of their sick puppies. That would ruin your case against them, and you don't need another sick puppy. You've got your hands full, right now.

It will work out, take it a day at a time.

It is more than Yoda being completely well. In order for her to not run the risk of getting Parvo from their home she need to go through the entire searise of vaccines. I think it is something like 6,9,12, 14, 18 weeks. Even then there is still a chance because in order for a titer to be drawn there has to be a period of time for the immunity to build in the bloodstream for the titer to test the immunity. In that time, she should not have contact with the new puppy because most likely Yoda will still be contagious and there could be parvo spours in the home.

Yes, I agree, that's why I said, "Until it is safe to bring Princess Laya home. . Hopefully, Princess Laya's breeder will hold her a little longer, or someone can puppysit.

If she has no one to puppysit, I'll offer. She's only about 5 hours from me.

The most important thing now is to ger Yoda well.

I have to agree with Sheila~get some rest and call in the morning first to your vet. Ask when it would be safe to bring home another puppy that was "in the works" before Yoda got sick. Then once you have this information you need to give the breeder a call to see if she is willing to work with you and the new puppy. You need to ask her how many in the series of parvo vaccines have been given to Princess Laya. Hopefully, she has already been started on her parvo vaccines and she should be almost fully vaccinated if she is somewhere around 12 to 14 weeks old.

If you do decide to take Sheila up on her offer to babysit I can vouch for her that she is a wonderful woman. She brought Teagan to YT and we all know how that has turned out.
