| Please help! HELLO, EVERYONE! I AM IN THE PROCESS OF ADOPTING A 10 WEEK OLD FEMALE YORKIE. I HAVE ADOPTED BEFORE INTO THINKING ZIGGY WAS A "YORKIE" BUT SHE ACTUALLY TURNED OUT TO BE A SILKY TERRIER. ALTHOUGH WE LOVE AND CARE FOR ZIGGY, WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A PUREBRED YORKIE. I HAVE ASKED ABOUT ANY MEDICAL PROBLEMS AND PICTURES OF HER PARENTS FROM THE BREEDER AND SHE REPLIED, "Her father is a red-ish color and her mother's coat is more of a silver color. Sorry but I don't have any pictures. Her and her parents don't have any medical problems. I also know that the other puppies from previous litters don't have any medical problems." I ONCE HAVE READ THAT SILKY TERRIERS HAVE A LONGER/BIGGER MUZZLE THAN YORKIES. WITH THE PICTURE ATTACHED, IM A LITTLE SKEPTICAL IF SHE IS A PUREBRED YORKIE. IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION IN REGARDS TO THIS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. SINCE I LIVE IN HAWAII, IT HAS BEEN VERY DIFFICULT FOR ME TO FIND A YORKIE BREEDER. I AM ALSO FLYING TO A DIFFERENT ISLAND TO PICK HER UP, I JUST DONT WANT TO WASTE ANY MORE TIME AND MONEY ANY LONGER. THANK YOU, GOD BLESS & HAPPY EASTER! |

| to YT. Hopefully you can see the pup's parents, & ask if the parents are AKC or equiv. registered, & if the pup can be registered, i.e., the breeder will provide the registration papers. Also, look at photos of Yorkie pups, at about the same age as the pup you are interested in so you know what a Yorkie pup should look like. Likely easier said than done. Good Luck.

| your description of a silky/yorkie is correct and you sound very skeptical of this breeder i believe that it would be in your best interest to keep looking you do not sound like you would be happy with a bigger puppy wait and get what your heart is set on and you will be happier for it plus a happy well adjusted puppy, you know they are just as happy as we are. maybe you can find a baby here on YT there are some beauties here just ask and i bet you get several offers. | Do you have a picture of the Yorkie you're adopting? There are people on this board that know silky terrier breeders so they should be able to help you out if you have pictures. Is the current owner willing to give you the breeder's information so you can contact them and see if they will send you pictures of the parents? I hope this works out for you!!!

| If you are flying to pick her up, I would want more info than red-ish mother? (that is not correct) If you are not paying much and willing to take this gamble ok but I don't think she sounds like an experienced breeder. It really takes a lot of looking to find a nce quality yorkshire terrier. Where did you hear about her? If she can't email pictures of the pup and parents, could she mail pictures? Does she guarantee her pups for at least one year? Remember though, it's better to pay a bit more in the beginning than to have lots of vet bills down the road. Welcome to Yorkie TalkKeep us posted and if we can help in any way, let us know. Joan p.s. google Yorkshire Terrier standard and that may help you alot.
