| We always had collies. i guess i'm not into short haired breeds. Anyway, we watched our most beloved collie break down (unable to stand up on her own and get up and down stairs). That disability lasted for about a year and a half. I lifted a 90 pound dog for that long. Whew! When we decided to get other dogs, I wanted a breed with a long life and one I could carry if it had old age leg problems. The lack of shedding was a huge bonus. Adorably cute and equally tenacious.

| I grew up with min. poodles, so I was looking for a small breed. What finally made me decide was their personality, they are so family oriented but have such a strong will I don't think they're awar how small they actually are ..hahaha

| Funny this is a question being asked. My boyfriend had yorkies, and as soon as I layed eyes on Fiona as a baby, I wanted her. I was vet tech for several years and i really hated yorkies, but im in love with them, and i'll always have them now!

| We puppy sat for a Yorkie for a long weekend. He had one front leg that was crippled at birth. He had such a great personality and was so joyful and full of life. My DH called him the 3 legged wonder! And we were hooked! |

| i've usually been a big/medium sized dog kinda person (akita, rottweiler, pitbull, german shepherd), but the first time i met a yorkie i fell in love. but i live on my own, am barely 5'2 and petite, so my mom and friends told me i should stick with a dog that i couldn't ride and couldn't run me over. i'm still going to get my big dog though, no matter what they say

| I saw one at one of my husband's customers homes. He was a vet (retired now) and he had the cutest Yorkie! That's when I knew, I fell in love instantly!

| ♥ Mama's Boy ♥ Donating Member | My boyfriend was the one that wanted a yorkie, me not so much. I just thought they were hyper, barky little things and never really wanted one. That was until I saw the love of my life TOBIE and I knew from that moment on that he was the one for me and now I have to admit that I love yorkies!

| It was one of the only breeds my husband and I could agree on and the fact that they dont shed was HEAVEN! So we got Dolce and he sealed the deal! We knew that Yorkies were our breed! We expanded our family to bandit two weeks ago and i love them both to death |

| Well for me it was my dad that got me into Yorkies. We just never had one. As a child being raised by a single father he just couldn't keep up with the grooming. We always had mutts and dogs I found. They never stayed long b/c their owners always came and got them. I got my first real dog when I was 9. He was a Peek-a-Poo I had him for 6 years till he was stolen. I vowed to never get another dog again! My mother-in-law who breeds Chi's gave me one of hers. Then I got into breeding Chi's with her. When I retired my pair my dad told me to look into Yorkies. So I did and fell in love!! They are so much better than Chi's! IMO. They don't shed, learn faster, love the family and strangers alike, and most of all Don't SHED! Here in San Antonio if a dog bites someone weather on your property or not provoked or not it's the owners fault. Chi's are known for being snappy and more and more people are looking for family friendly dogs. Yorkies are the best! I love my Yorkies and I would never get another Chi even though I love the ones I have! |

| My 8 year old girl wanted a dog soo bad. I had been around dogs my whole life and loved dashounds. In fact I got one when I was 9 and he past when I was almost 30 he was a great dog, BUT didnt think she would like that kind and they are hard to train. My wife didnt like dogs at all never really had one but was willing to do it for our little girl. A coworker of hers told her about a vet that had a couple of dog (strays) that they were wanting to give away. So since i knew about dogs and dogs have always liked me I was the one that went to look at what they had. The lady brought out two dogs a Chihuahua, and a Yorkie well the Yorkie just jumped right in my arms and that was it!!! However I took her home and this was about a year ago and to this day she really dont care for our little girl idk why she is mine and my wifes dog. Remember the wife that I said didnt like dogs lol well Chloe now sleeps with us and my wife has bought her more cllothes and outfits than I have so they really do still your heart. All they want to do is whatever your doing. There so smart, brave, loving. |

| To be blatantly honest, I very much disliked yorkies at first. A good friend of mine had one growing up and that thing bit me like it was its job....it was a very good employee. Then in college I met a girl who had a sweet yorkie, so I decided this might be worth a shot to meet. I met a few litters, and they weren't for me until I met Athena. She was so friendly and quiet but still energetic....SOLD! The rest is history as they say!

| YT 500 Club Member | I'm not really sure, growing up we always had mongrels, my mom always wanted a small yorkie but never got one until I desided I wanted a pedigree dog and she said yorkie or nothing. I've never been into all that self grooming thing, more practical than anything. But I love brushing them as they look so beautiful. My first one was a dream, easy to train, always by my side but never in the way. Now couldn't imagine having anything else. |
