What attracted you to yorkies??? What made you choose the them over all the others |
Well, to tell you the truth, I didn't want a yorkie, my husband did. I wanted anything BUT a yorkie because I always thought of them as spoiled, pampered, little fru-fru dogs. Yes, the are spoiled, but their personalities are completely different than my first opinion and now I'm hooked. Chip is my little adventurer and he'll go swimming in the Potomac River... he shows no fear and is protective of his family, yet is incredibly loving. Smokey is my lovable goof ball. They are all just so different, you can't help but love them! |
I loved their long flowing hair and big beautiful eyes. The fact that they don't shed or smell and are small, love bugs. |
I owned a maltese which I love the breed but its a hassle keeping the hair white and clean. I chose the yorkie next because like the maltese they are beautiful, smart and affectionate. I also reside in an apt and a small breed was best for my family and myself. |
I never thought I would have a dog in the house. My 13 yr. old daughter had been wanting a puppy for several years and we said NO dog in the house. My friend had a litter of yorkie pups. She had to talk us into getting one for my daughter. We give in. We now have 3 yorkies and we love them to death. The fact they don't shed was a seller for me. |
One of my favorite shows when I was younger was Green Acres. Liza (Zsa Zsa Gabore) was the pampered wife and she had a beautiful little Yorkie...I fell in love right then! I never saw one in real life until junior high...my best friend's sister had a little female and I used to love it when Eva would come for visits to Pattie's house. As soon as I got on my own I got a Yorkie and I've had them in my home for 27 years now. :) |
Well I like pretty things:rolleyes: no really, I fell in love with Yorkies and the Maltese breed when I was a young child because I just can't get over their cuteness when I watched the dog shows. I love their long flowing coats and they were just the prettiest out of all the other breeds. |
Mini Pitbull with Long Hair My Father was a Dog Lover and I grew up w/Dogs so Naturally I Love all Dogs, I used to Breed Pitbulls and I have always had a Dog both purebreds and Mutts. I never liked small Dogs, until I met/saw a Yorkie in person, it was so Friendly, smart and affectionate and he strutted around like he was in a Parade he was so proud and Happy........not Barking or trying to attack me? I had heard so many bad things about them but this one was the exception. That was on a Thursday afternoon and by that Sunday Night I was going to the Airport to pick up my first Yorkie, that was 5 yrs. ago and I now have 3 of them! They are so Beautiful, Regal and Loyal, easy to Train. They are the Best Bed warmers! They are very portable and Travel well both in the car and on Airplanes and they manage to put a smile on everyone's face that they come across. I spend as much time w/them as possible they truly are my little Companions 24/7. They are Fierce when they need to be, they are mini Pitbulls w/long hair. |
I've always thought they were gorgeous, and when a co-worker got one, I realized they were also very smart, absolutely adorable, and very fun to be around! I live in an apartment, and the characteristics plus the small size is really perfect for my lifestyle! Hopefully in a couple of years I'll be able to get a playmate for my Kya! |
We always saw ourselves as "large" dog people! Then I went to visit my sister out of town..and just fell in love with her precious baby Sophie! I couldn't believe such a LARGE personality came from such a tiny package.....Suddenly after only a couple days... I found myself desperate for a baby of my own...my hubby ofcourse agreed only to placate me...but now he's TOTALLY HOOKED on them too!!! The no-shedding is just a bonus! |
I was recovering from cancer back in 1992 when we visited my sister in law. She had just gotten a new little dog, a Yorkie. I feel in love with that little dog!!! We had always had Shelties but I wanted a Yorkie so badly!! My husband consented to getting a Yorkie as I was so depressed with all my cancer treatment. We've had Yorkies since then!! We got two this last time and they are a delight!! They are so loving and they don't shed!! Both of them are in my lap as I'm typing this message!!! LOL!! SandyGrace |
I was actually looking for a Skye Terrier in the dove gray color. I couldnt find a Skye and went to look at a litter of Yorkies and fell in love with Amy!!:) |
I never did..... ......care for the "look" much, but after seeing them as puppies and the adults with the puppy cut I found them to be too cute. My Mom wanted one so I bought her one and OMG...they are wonderful little clowns and lovers. Mime knocks on the door with her head to get you to open it...true! She has also learned how to "pick" my Mom's jacket pocket of paper and napkins....her fav thing to rip apart. I love my littlel clown to death :animal-pa |
I have been an animal lover forevvvver, but unfortunately my parents are NOT. I begged and begged for a dog every single day of my life but they would not give in. I bought myself books and read about every single dog breed, earmarking the pages of the breeds I liked. Finally when I was 15, I decided on the Yorkshire Terrier. They were small, adorable, didn't shed, and were hypoallergenic (my dad alwayys claims to be allergic.) I had moved 12 times for my dad's career and was having trouble making friends at my new school, so finally he gave in let me get a dog. He only agreed because of the breed I picked (he thought he wouldn't have to see her since she was so small.) Needless to say, Roxie now sleeps in a cat bed in my parent's bed. |
i've always wanted a dog, so when i finally got my own apt, i read that yorkies are great for apt dwellers. after getting my first yorkie, i became passionate about the breed and became obsessed, that i went and got another one. now i have two and i absolutely love it. they're my life! |
