| I am glad to hear your baby is alright. I have a friend that had a maltese and a hawk tried to carry it away. It was on the bigger side so it couldn't carry it off but the talons hurt the dog pretty bad. I don't ever let the small ones out unless I am there to watch, too much can go wrong too quickly. I also make sure Daisy is out with them to watch over them as she is very protective of them. I do have a question though. Does having trees protect you more or just the opposite? We have trees over our entire yard and I would think it would be difficult for a hawk to swoop in with all the branches and limbs in the way. ![]() I pity the hawk the tries swooping down with Daisy around, lol.

| Eagles will prey on small to medium animals and if they are too heavy to carry them off they will use their talons to tear them apart. Don't mean to gross anyone out just letting you know not even a teapot would be safe from some of these predators. Keep a close eye on your babies....

| Yes hawks can be scary. We've had several sightings in our area. One day we were sitting outside and saw a hawk pick up a squirrel off the top of an out building. Fortunately for the squirrel the hawk dropped him. He seemed ok, he was one lucky squirrel. Please be careful!!! |

| You can never be to protective of your lil ones...even thou my baby is 7.7 lbs I know that a hawk could hurt her badly with it's talons and even had one swoop down last summer under my patio cover to get her while I was at my computer watching...but luckily she was indoors at the time.....I don't let her outside anymore without my being right with her. I am glad that your baby is alright. My brother works for a company that manufactures pool fencing and I am having him check into getting me something that will cover her xpen so that she can be outside during the summer without me having to worry.

| YT 1000 Club Member | It's a felon to shoot them. You can spend alot of time in jail for this one. Does anyone remember the lady that made some ornaments or something for the Clinton's and they had feathers on them from a hawk? She got into some pretty serious trouble for just having feathers. She didn't do anything wrong really or not that she was aware of. I think she had found the feathers or something (can't remember where she got them) but it was an innocent mistake.

| That is so scary! We live by the water and in December-February there are usually alot of eagles and hawks around, we even had one who used to hang out in our back yard for hours at our old house almost as if he was waiting for the minute he could swoop down and grab Chloe. When she is alone outside we always make sure someone is right by the door watching her.
