| Thanks heavens you were there to protect your little one. I have read stories on YT in the past where other's were not so lucky. It stayed in my mind for day's thinking of the horror of the poor dog and the owner watching it dissapear with the bird. I can't imagine going threw such torment. Be carefull everyone and don't take chances. Of course I don't have to worry about Buddy. No one bird alive today could get his heavy butt off the ground. |

What incredible pics, it gave me chills just looking at the Baldie. The bird in front spreading his(her?) wings was an eagle too?

| I am so glad that your little one is safe. Anyone who had heard the hawk's hunting cry will remember it always. It's kind of like the smell of a skunk -- it's something you don't forget. I would also like to thank you for your timely reminder to watch out for birds of prey. Nesting season has started in my neck of the woods and I am sure that the birds are working extra hard to feed nestlings. |

I have heard hawks before but never quite the same sound I heard last night. Either it was different or just more terrifying because my baby was its intended prey.

| Glad your baby is safe. We have hawks in our area also. While I know it is natural for a small dog to be prey for the large birds, it is a shame the pups can't run free in their own fenced yard for a few minutes. If I had known then, what I know now, I would have gotten the largest Yorkie I could have. Instead, I have a 4 lb. 10 month old. Of course, that is one reason he is loved so much because we have to be so careful with him. |

| you have to consider this though...even if your baby is a teapot and big the bird may not be able to carry it away but in to process of trying they could seriously hurt them...

Thank-you for the reminder...... I know that some Yorkie owners have had some tragic instances.

| Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I have Krissy and Teddy who are to big to carry away but the rest are small enough to be picked up. I'm very carefull to either be out with them of make sure Teddy is on patrol. He watches the sky like crazy. He barks at every bird that flys over the yard.

| Birds of Prey, Racoons and other wild animals are nocturnal. They hunt at night, or right at dusk. When there is a shortage of food they will eat nearly anything. Small animals are easy targets to these large birds with giant talons. I have a field right behind my house. There were trees that had many owls perching up there every evening. They always took off looking for for dinner at the same time of evening, right before dark. These owls were enormous. I did not have Suzi back then. Snakes are also anther predator to please watch out for! Especially if your Yorkie goes on the grass. Snakes are difficult to see. They spread out and are fast. We have large black bees, and yellow jackets to worry about as well I am very worried about all these things that can hurt my precious yorkie.

| We have hawks here to I have to watch out for them when the dogs are out, we had one sitting on our fence post. When I was telling my vet about it he said they will scoop a yorkie up without any problems.
