I am glad to hear your baby is alright. I have a friend that had a maltese and a hawk tried to carry it away. It was on the bigger side so it couldn't carry it off but the talons hurt the dog pretty bad.
I don't ever let the small ones out unless I am there to watch, too much can go wrong too quickly. I also make sure Daisy is out with them to watch over them as she is very protective of them.
I do have a question though. Does having trees protect you more or just the opposite? We have trees over our entire yard and I would think it would be difficult for a hawk to swoop in with all the branches and limbs in the way.

I pity the hawk the tries swooping down with Daisy around, lol.
