I've included some pictures of her and will send more later on. It is hard for me to even leave the room because if I walk out of there for even 2 seconds, hubby says she starts crying. She is such a mommies girl.

P.S. - Her blood tests came back normal, thank GOD! There was one thing on there that he said was high (can't even remember what it was), but he said that it was nothing to be concerned about. I also had him do a Thyroid tests because as some of you may remember from some of my previous threads, I was concerned about this with her as she has been losing hair lately (which I now feel is due to her horrible allergies) - as her Thyroid tests came back totally normal as well. Thank you JESUS!

Here is my little Lion/Poodle/Schnauzer/Yorkie  I wanted to totally shave her down before her surgery, but hubby didn't want me to (why did I ever listen to him?). Please continue with the prayers for her....she still has a very LONG road ahead and her surgeon sounded very concerned, especially with that left leg.

Also - we will be going back on the 13th so that he can remove her sutures and she will also start her first official physical therapy with a physical therapist. Once we go see her, she will teach me (more in detail) of what exactly I need to be doing with her here at home. A few weeks later, she will go back for more x-rays to check her bones and the pins to make sure that they aren't broken. I'm just PRAYING!!

I will post more pictures later and I will also try to get a video of her. Whenever I am able to get a video of her, I will let everyone know. Thanks again you guys...I love you ALL.

Hi Brooke, you don't know me but I just wanted to tell you that I have been following your touching story, and am praying so much for Tatum (and YOU!). What a sweet little doll she is. Thank you for sharing the pictures and update.

With continued prayers!
Cheryl

Wow - she has been thru so much. Prayers for her healing & for you. What a long time to be confined to a crate. Praying everything goes perfectly with her therapy & rehabilitation. And that she & Stedman do ok apart :(

Shelby&Seymour 04-04-2009 03:56 PM

Glad to hear from you Brooke........ understand why you haven't posted..... I KNOW what it's all about and how busy you are. Her stitches look wonderful.... nice and clean. Hopefully in a few days, you will start seeing her get some more strength... then WATCH out. Shelby was a big pain in the butt. She wanted to run and play like nothing happened..... and it was very difficult to keep her confined. I felt like a BIG MEANY!! :p But ya gotta do what the doc says!.....

Tatum will LOVE PT. Shelby had ultrasound therapy, laser therapy, and aquatic therapy (treadmill in a fish tank ... that is what I called it! ). Then she also had the heat and cold packs after therapy. One thing that our therapist did was put a little PURE lavender oil on the tips of her ears. Sounds silly, but it really relaxed Shelby.... after about 2 minutes she was much more at ease. This was done before PT. (Good pure Lavender oil can be purchased at GNC)
ANYWAY, hope you are doing well....... if ya want to talk, PM me, and I can give you a call! :)

awwww Brooke....Thank you so much for taking the time to share Tatum's story with us, especially with all that's going on. I had tears, reading about what our little sweetheart is going through & then smiles and giggles about the true Love & Devotion from her & Stedman & her Mommie/Daddie through all this. It definitely sounds like she had a truly wonderful surgeon. Bella & I send our Love:2hearts2: & Prayers:hands: that Tate will have a full recovery! Take care little one:aimeeyork.....you are in good hands!!;)

Thanks for the update, I was in tears and laughing all at the same time, your description of Steddy giving her kisses was so sweet, and the little piglet eating KFC cracked me up. Tatum has lots of angels looking out for her, and I just pray her surgery will be a success. That little sweetheart must be a tough cookie to have not shown any more pain than she did before surgery. I know you said she had good and bad days, but after hearing the surgeon's description, I'm surprised she had any good days. Glad you are home and prayer for a speedy recovery. Glad you found such a wonderful caring surgeon.

Hey everyone, as most of you all know, Tatum will be having her Luxating Patella surgery tomorrow. We are going out of town for this and have to leave very, very early in the morning. We have to be at the Surgeon's office at 10:45 a.m. but it is going to take us about 2 hours to get there...plus we will have to stop for food and to let little Tate go potty, etc., so we have to leave very early. I booked the hotel room about 2 weeks ago so all that is already taken care of....but I only booked it for one night and we won't know until after the surgery if she will have to stay only 1 night, or more. It just all depends on how she is doing. When we first get there tomorrow morning they are going to take x-rays and do bloodwork....and after that she will go in so that they can start the surgery.

PLEASE, PLEASE *PLEASE* say a ton of prayers for her.....I am soooo SO nervous about this and I will DIE if something goes wrong. I'm serious. Tatum HATES being in the car so that alone is going to be a big headache....and especially on the way back home after she is in her cast's, etc. She will be having BOTH knees done at the same time. We are taking one of the laptop's to the hotel with us and I will have my Blackberry to give you all updates on as well...and I will also take my camera and take pictures of my little angel after the surgery has been complete. There will be someone up there with her 24/7 so I can call and check on her and go up there and see her whenever I want. Also, I made sure to book a hotel that is close to where she is having the surgery just incase they would need me to get up there right away - our hotel is only 5 minutes away from where she is having surgery. I feel very confident about her surgeon - he is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with over 30 years experience....but I am just still soooo nervous  Having her put under always TERRIFIES me. That is *the* most scary part for me. I just HATE it

Here are some pictures of my little angel baby.....she is such a little sweetheart and is SO SO special and important to us, so please keep her in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow. I will update you all just as soon as I can. Hopefully I will be able to pop in with some pictures of her as well. I love you guys so much and thank you for all of your very kind and caring e-mails and PM's - it means the world to me :ghug:

Brooke, you and Tatum have been on mind every minute and I'm so glad surgery is over and you were able to find such a great surgeon. Also such a wonderful sign that she is drinking water and eating, that KFC does it every time if they have a bout with not eating and when I looked at the pictures I didn't know if I wanted to cry or be happy. I'll be happy because I know with you and your hubbys good care she is going to have a new life without pain. God love you all.

Don't know how this happened. Sorry!

JMuedog 04-04-2009 06:00 PM

OH Brooke, I'll be thinking of you! Glad she's home and improving!

megansmomma 04-04-2009 06:05 PM

I am so glad that Tatum is doing well and home from her surgery. You are such a good mommy to your babies and I just know you are taking extra wonderful care of Tat.

As for those meds, I have been giving Bogey his meds in a little cream cheese and it works really well. I stick the pill in the middle and make a little ball and down it goes! It works better than than any other trick I have tried.
