| Hey Shell, I am glad your considering another yorkie! I got Moose shortly after Izzy passed and it has helped me heal greatly. People told me that if I got the same breed it would remind me of Izzy but it does not really. Their personalities are different enough in that it doesn't. He has brought me so much joy and he has made it easier to cope with her passing. Good luck on your search! P.S. It's hard to say what gender to get because I think it depends on the dog. Like I love Moose and Izzy in different ways. Izzy- Slept through the night (does not wake me up at 5am like Moose does), she was very docile Moose- loves loves loves to play, likes both toys & bones (izzy only like bones), gets along great with are other dog (Izzy did not) So, see it depends on the dog...Good Luck Sweetie

So sorry you lost your sweet Millie. Get whichever sex you like the best. Personally, I prefer females. Ignore what people will think. So what! People aren't going to pay for her, take care of her, love her, so what does their opinion matter? Critisize is all some people know how to do & need to get a life. Make choices that make you happy. No matter which sex you get, it will never be a carbon copy of Millie even if it's a girl. Enjoy your search & choose the one that feels right for you whenever you're ready. | |

| I would go for the personality of the puppy--find one that you know is the right one for you. Something to think about if you get a boy, is that the neutering surgery is less complicated.

| I've always had male dogs. The last one was a male Yorkie that I had for 13 years. Last spring after Chipper passed on I thought I would never want another dog. I cried for weeks and every thing reminded me of Chipper. Finally I realized that I would never move on until I got a new baby. I found a breeder that I really liked and trusted and gave her a deposit for a male puppy with a female that was due to deliver in a couple weeks. There were 3 puppies in that litter and they were all females. Even though she had a lot of people interested in females I was the only person that gave her a deposit so she wanted to know if I wanted a female. I never really thought about having a little girl but I did know that I wanted a puppy from that litter. That's how my baby girl came into my life. She is sweet, smart and the most affectionate dog I have ever owned. She has never growled, shown teeth or tried to bite. My males always tested me in the begining until they realized who was in charge. I have to admit females are a lot harder to house break then males. My boys were house trained by 4 months while Piper is 10 months and will still have an accident once in a while. We go weeks with no accidents but she never asks to go out so it is up to me to make sure she has potty breaks. The boys would just go to the door and ask to go out.

| I have not had a male yorkie before. However, I have heard that they like to mark a lot. My female is very smart, and loving. When I get anther one, it will be a female.

| Buddy marks a lot! He is very protective of "HIS" yard. Everytime we go on a walk I am scared he is going to dehydrate himself. That is one of the drawbacks of a male, but if I had to do it again, I would go straight for him! |
