| SO MAD, please read!! As if this couldn't get any worse? I dropped Stormy off at the vets at about 6pm yesterday or around that time. They had asked me if I wanted to be there when they did it and I told them I just couldn't I was hurting so bad. I got to spend some time with her before they put her down. We paid for it, my fiancee ended up showing up so again I went in to say good bye again with him. She was suppose to be put down AROUND that time, she was in "critical condition" he said. She was DYING in his words. I had been crying non stop the rest of the evening thinking about her, trying to come to terms with what just happen to my baby. We are lying in bed and the phone rings at just after 10:30pm. It is the vets office. The lady on the other side of the phone says to me that... SORRY WE HAVE BEEN BUSY AND HAVEN'T HAD A CHANCE TO PUT HER DOWN YET. A DIFFERENT VET JUST CAME IN AND LOOKED HER OVER AND SAID HE CAN PROBABLY FIX HER BUT HE WANTS TO KEEP HER AND YOU GIVE UP OWNERSHIP OF HER. As if I wasn't suffering already? HOW DO YOU CALL ME and say you've been busy and haven't had a chance yet? Why wouldn't they call me sooner, or even TELL ME that they may not be able to get to her for almost 5 hours later?!?!?! THIS IS SICK!! So apparently they said that the ulchers on her eyes aren't a "big deal" and that she has some blood in her bum which is bright red blood and that the vet thinks that isn't a very big deal either. He also said he would even fix her nose but he wants to keep her for himself!! I am so pissed off! If my dog was dying why was she left by herself for 5 hours TO SUFFER if I paid you to put her out of her misery?!?! So needless to say I don't know what was going on at this point but I threw on some clothes, my fiancee threw on clothes and we grabbed our daughter, ran to the car and drove to the vet! I was trying to get answers as to why I was told what I was told by the other vet. WHY did he say he thought there was NOTHING TO SAVE HER?!?!?! That my best option is to put her down RIGHT THEN! So I don't know if I did the right thing or not but I went into the back of the vets office and took her out of that little cage she was in, wrapped her up and brought her home with me, said I wanted a refund and that I will find another vet if this is the way they do business here! I still don't have answers as to what is wrong with my baby. I know there must be something bothering her, it seems just the same as two weeks ago but I had dealt with the doctor that I first seen today. She had an ulcher on her eye he said, gave me antibiotic eye drops and within a few days she was back to normal until this passed weekend. So now I am thinking that she was probably having a low blood sugar attack and with all the stress going on and needles going into her belly and what not she was stressing out, who knows all I know is that I could of had her at home and brought her in if they were just going to make my baby sit in a cage until it was convienent for them to put her down, she's never been in a cage here, why would she spend her last HOURS!! in a cage. This is just horrible, I can't even think straight right now. I just can only take this as a sign that it isn't time for her to go yet? But I don't know what the right thing to do is. I had a strange feeling after and even said to my mom, what if they don't put her down and someone keeps her mom? how would I ever know. Last edited by yorkie_mama22; 03-24-2009 at 04:11 AM. |

| OMG! I can't imagine what you must be going through. I just posted on your other thread. To make the decision and then to have this happen is horrible. Please find another vet ASAP to see what is going on with Stormy. She is obviously not feeling well, but for the vets to give you this advice and then to do this to her is beyond comprehension. First get your baby taken care of and then I would look into reporting these vets to the medical boards or whoever you would. This is beyond belief what they have done. I would be more than angry and upset! I hope that your baby will be okay and not be in pain.

♥ Mama's Boy ♥ Donating Member | OMG that is horrible and all the emotion and pain that they put you through, it is not right. I am SO SO SO sorry, I don't have any advice but I know you must be feeling sick over this whole thing. Your poor baby too, I cannot believe they would do that, Hopeful you will find a vet that can help her and find out what is wrong.

Yorkie Yakker | OMG! How awful. Is this place your only choice Please take her to another Vet's office. I had a little girl that I was told she had Glaucoma and treated her with drops for about 6 months I changed locations so I went to another Vet and she said "this dog don't have Glaucoma I will give her the test for free to prove it to you" So she did then I was frantic I ask if the drops did any damage, she said no the drops were not for Glaucoma they were just eye drops for soothing eyes. I was furious, nothing legally to be done since my dog wasn't damaged. But I sure can run my mouth and give them a bad name. There are bad apples in every bunch. |

YT 1000 Club Member | This is unbelievable and outrageous. I'm sitting here with my mouth hanging open and shaking my head. I had to re-read your other thread to make sure you were the same person (which I knew you were). Find another vet asap and hopefully one that doesn't know the other 2. Talk about mental cruelty. Putting you through all that emotional trauma of thinking it was hopeless and that you were doing the right thing only to find out that they wanted her for themselves. I always knew there were sick people out there but this is nuts. These are people your supposed to be able to trust, medical professionals. Do you have any friends with animals that might refer you to someone? Definitely report the other 2. |

| I am beyond stunned and equally as furious as you and others here. I can only imagine what you must be going through right now. Please, please find a different vet to take her to and keep us informed of what they find. We are all praying for you both. PLEASE, as hard as it is right now to focus on something else, PLEASE write down everything that has happen while it is still fresh in your mind. Then in a few days when you can think straight again, please find the proper authorities to tell. Surly there is a Veterinarian Licensing Board in Canada that you can submit this to. There may be nothing 'legally' that can be done, but it'll go on their record. Does Canada have a Better Business Bureau? I'd contact them too. Even if the vets aren't a member, you can file a complaint and it'll be available for anyone else researching vets. Oh, I'm so upset right now at that vet!! It's a good thing Texas is so far away from Canada! GRRRR!!

| This is outrageous! I can't imagine how you must be feeling right now. Definitely go to another vet and then maybe another one after that so you can have all the information and different view points - then YOU can decide what is best for little Stormy. Obviously, you thought your baby was suffering, and you wanted to do what was best for her, but how can you do that when you are getting different information from different vets at the same practice?!?! UGH!

| I am so, so sorry for what you have gone through. I read your post yesterday with tears in my eyes and just can not imagine something like this happening...what a total nightmare. How is little Stormy this morning? I totally think you did the right thing yesterday, so don't ever doubt yourself. We have to put these little babies first, and if their suffering gets to be too much, we need to do what is best for them. I would get Stormy to another vet first thing this morning and explain the whole situation to them and go from there. I would also demand a total refund for the treatment you recieved from your last vet. I am almost speechless and can't imagine something like this happening. My thoughts and prayers are certainly with you.... |

| Luckily this isn't the only vet in the area. This is the closet one to me and they are open 24/7. We had to bring her in after she had a seizure when we first got her and since it was afterhours and this was the closest vet we went there. Since being laid off this vet was being nice and not charging me full prices but still. If he is just "guessing" what is wrong with her every time I bring her in, I don't need him being nice and helping me with if its hurting her in the end! The vet from last night who I spoke to after said " Well I just wanted to try giving her a chance at life and thought I could fix her and keep her as my pet ". I understand that and I thank him for doubling looking her but if she was fixable I should of never been told she wasn't and then have her to be put down! He said he wasn't there first to exam her so he can't say anything about the other vet all he can say is she could be having allergies, parasites or something less serious. I just think that if she was really as bad as he said she was why would this vet wan to take the time and money to fix her if it was THAT bad. He obviously checked her out and came to this conclusion before having that phone call placed to me. I mean when I got there he had all the stuff out on the table to put her down, it was terrible, I just grabbed her and left as fast as I could, I just didn't know what else to do. I was in shock and disbelief, I even asked my fiancee if I was dreaming because I couldn't believe what was going on! |

| OMG, what a terrible story. I hope so much that another vet can help your little poor baby asap. But please, if an owner must bring his beloved animal to a vet to put it to sleep, please please let the baby NOT alone! I know it´s a very horrible thing, but stay with your baby, tell him that you love it and cuddle it and don´t leave him. Years ago I had a very sweet cat to be put down. I hold her and gave her kisses and the slept without fear, because I was with her. Please to all people, let them not alone in their saddest hour. You and your little baby are in my thoughts. I hope the best. |

| Im totally flabergasted!!!! Maybe you could talk to that vet who wanted to keep her? Maybe he/she didnt know the whole story and just saw a dog he/she thought they could save? If this vet could indeed treat her ailments, it would be worth pursing that vet. |
