Parti-yorkies I recently came across a beautiful puppy while searching for a new puppy to bring into my home. At first, I thought she must be a yorkie/s**t-zhu or maltese mix, but then I noticed that she is a AKC Parti-yorkie. Regardless of what she is, I think she is fantastic and is the perfect type of puppy for me (happy, small, non-shedding, and from a breeder NOT a puppy mill). I am a little nervous about bringing her into my life though for a few reasons. I know that people say that this type of dog has been around for generations DESPITE the fact that they've just started being bred recently, but I've never actually had experience with this type of dog. There are so many people with so many ideas about whether Parti-Yorkies are more prone to disease or not more prone to disease than traditional yorkies OR whether their gene is simply recessive or whether it is a genetic defect. SO, rather than reading "around in circles" I'd love to hear from parti-yorkie owners. Here are my questions for all Parti-yorkie owners out there: 1. How old is your OLDEST parti-yokie or how old was he or she before he or she passed on? 2. Were there any genetic disorders present within your parti-yorkie? 3. Did anyone get a parti-yorkie from Baltic, Ohio? 3. Are there any specific tests I should ask for when I bring her to the vet? 4. Any additional information and/or pictures/stories would be fantastic. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Maria

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Is this breeder breeding specifically for part's? Or happened to have a parti within her litter. Specific breeding is what causes the concern among some people. That being said...she's a yorkshire terrier with a color fault...the health issues are the same as a yorkie and so is the life expentency. Good luck and I would love to see pictures!

First off, welcome to YT! Wow, did you ever take on a controversial topic with your first post! There are tons of very heated threads here on Parti yorkies. Try the search feature at the top of the page to search for "parti" and you will get a lot of results. JeanieK and Pinehaven (Sue), are members here who have done a lot of research on Partis and breed them. They would likely be able to give you a lot of insight on them. Good luck!

Parti-Yorkies Didn't mean to start a controversy. Not trying to argue. Yes Biewers are Yorkies. They began breeding them in Germany several years ago. They are beautiful little dogs, and people are trying to have them recognized by the AKC, but so far they are CkC which is Continental Kennal Club. However, Maltese or some other breed mized with Yorkie is not recognized is not recognized by AKC. The Biewers have every right to be recognized by them, and I hope it happens. I had a Malti zhu for 17 yrs, and I adored him. However, when you mix one breed with another, they cannot be recognized by AKC. Maybe, you do have a Biewer and not a mix. Their coloring is different (more white) As I said before, they are beautiful, and can be registered with the CKC. Really hope AKC steps up to the plate. However, we love them with all our hearts, and who cares about the registration unless you are going to show or breed. Even then, Biewers can come with a very high price tag. I know someone who paid $4000 for one. I know your dog is precious, and that you will love, love, love him or her. (can't remember) Tucker's Mom

No a parti yorkie is a yorkie, just like brown yorkies, etc. They are recognized by AKC but, can't be shown, and some say shouldn't be bred, as the parti colors are a fault as are the brown/golden, etc
