| I bought my yorkie online through petfinder. but I went and picked him up over in Ohio (I'm in Michigan). I've thought about buying one online and having him/her shipped, but I don't know if I could personally buy a dog without seeing how our personalities react to each other. I don't see a problem with it though if you're comfortable with it.

| the only puppy i have that i have met the breeder in person, saw the parents and saw the living conditions was miss buffey...i flew in over the holiday and picked her up and flew her back with me bentley i had shipped to me and although i talk to the breeder via email, i have never met her gino i picked up at the airport and met the breeder in person but did not visit their home...he flew back in the cabin with me when i got bree, i met the breeder in person and we met halfway all of my kids are wonderful and i could not have asked for better breeders or better kids...it is all about due diligence and doing your homework there ARE reputable breeders out there but sadly, there are a lot more dishonest breeders out there

| I bought my pup from a picture on-line and had him flown here and I would never do it again. My puppy was so traumatized when he got here and did not look anything like the picture. Not to mention we found out he came from a horrible puppy mill. I'm sure there are lots of sucess stories but mine was a nightmare. |

| My personal opinion is not to take the chance of shipping and doing any online perchases with a live animal. I am a firm believer to meet the breeder and the parent of the pups. Also seeing what type of health gauretee the pups come with and vaccinations., and deworming. AND to make certain the pups have had at least one vet checked . If I had found someone who is a reputable breeder possible from YT , I'f fly out to the state myself and make the effort to see the babies and talk in detailed length to the breeder. ANd find out everything I needed to know about the pup. Hoping that there wold still beable to remain in contact with the breeder after bringing hom the new puppy. I prefer finding a reputable in my area that is willing to go theough the extra steps in selling healthy puppies and not just to anybody.

| I bought Leia on line and had her shipped to me. With the help of YT and references and sharing pictures, talking to the owner, and so on. I am very pleased. There's always risk, however if you do as much homework as you can, the risk can be minimized. |

| No way would I trust the airlines with my furbaby. If I could not go pick my baby up myself, I would look for a more local breeder. Too many stories of animals dying in the cargo hold. Not to mention it is dark, noisy, too hot or too cold etc. NO WAY!

I agree with you. I would NEVER EVER buy a dog online without at least visiting the dog first. When I worked at the vets, we had a few clients whom were buying their dogs online, and would bring them to our vet, and they were sooooo sick, it was sad. I would really tell anyone who is looking to buy online that you should check out the pup first.....

| I have not had any problems buying from a reputable YTCA breeder or a STCA breeder. I bought my first Skye champion as a puppy from New Hampshire, site unseen and flew him out to Az.

| I live in CT, bought Conner from a picture online, and he came from OK. He took a direct flight from Dallas to CT. When he arrived, he was so spunky, we just couldn't believe he was so perfect. Although all is well with Conner (he is going to be 3 years old this month), I don't know that I would have a puppy shipped again. He was so tiny, but now is a robust 12 pounds. I was very lucky, as I did not investigate the breeder.

| I once shipped a 12-week-old Persian kitten from California to Colorado, and that poor little thing was so traumatized that I swore never to ship an animal again. When I moved to South Africa and the airline refused to allow me to have my little Peke in the cabin with me, I found her a new home with a wonderful new mama rather than subject her to 30 hours in the belly of the plane. She was old and the vet thought it would be too much for her. I know people ship animals all the time, but I just could not do it again. My babies either stay home with a house sitter or they come with me. Now that we have four, however, if we bring them along it will have to be a car trip! Puddin' rides well...no carsickness, no trembling, no problems. She is happy in her puppy purse (even takes naps in it at home) and when she gets bigger, I'll see about getting her a car seat or harness. The others have to travel in kennels as they moan and jump about in the car otherwise. But except in the most urgent circumstances, I do not see myself being a party to shipping an animal ever again.

| I just want to say that there are alot of ways to make sure that your dealing with a reputable person, If you buy from a person that has put energy into the breed and built a good reputation, that happens to be out of state and has puppies available on a website then there should be no worries. However I wouldn't google cute yorkies for sale click on some random site and pick out a puppy. Do your background work, you are investing in your breeder as much as you are the puppy it's self. I found all 3 of my yorkies on the internet, but I spent weeks researching and getting to know the breeders that I bought them from. I didn't ship but I gave money for two of my babies before I had seen them in person.
