| Frustrated with the general Public yet again... It has been a lovely warm and sunny day here in the UK today so hubby and I decided to take our little Pixie for a walk. A guy (probably in his 50's) that I have met before with his Spaniel and large overweight Retriever type dog was walking towards us, so I scooped Pixie up, as I knew from previous meetings with it that the Retriever appears to be a bit aggressive and as soon as it spots Pixie it usually comes charging towards us at full speed...and again, it did just that! when I picked Pixie up the guy called out; "he's ok!" and said it in a way that it was obvious that me Picking Pixie up like that had annoyed him! the Retriever then proceeds to jump up at me to get to Pixie so I carry on walking while trying to keep Pixie out of its reach..I then explained that the reason I scooped her up so fast was because she's very tiny and I didn't want her flattened! and his response to that was. "oh! he's not THAT bad"! what does he want me to do? leave Pixie all 3lbs of her on the floor while he's big lump of a dog jumps all over her??..or worse attacks her?? so inconsiderate! and very frustrating! whenever I meet this guy he acts offended when I scoop Pixie up..and to be honest, I dont care if it DOES offend him..i'm just not going to take the risk of my precious girl getting injured!..and another thing that has frustrated me recently was a woman walking her dog looked at Pixie then said; "my husband says that they look like Rats when they are wet" Is that supposed to be funny??? as if I haven't heard it all before anyway..I have owned yorkies for over 15 years..ggggrrrrr! I didn't make a rude comment about her dog! I am getting so sick of this rudeness! whatever happened to old fashioned good manners? Everywhere I go with Pixie I seem to meet such alot of negativity? It can get so tiresome at times well, thats my whinge of the day over with! lol...

| I would have picked up mine too and they are 11 and 6 lbs. He needs to be controlling his dog better thats what I would have told him. Too bad if he gets offended. And the lady who said they look like rats when there wet needs to keep her comments to herself. I would have told her where she can stick it. I dont have any patience or tolerance to people who put down someone elses pet. Thats like putting down someones child there is no good reason for it

| I know EXACTLY what you're going through - I get this every day with Tink!!! Once I took her out for a walk, I hadn't left the door 2 minutes when this absolutely huge Alsation dog ran over full pelt and started ferocuiosly mauling her and wouldn't go away - I was so terrified I had to literally drag her up by her collar to get this beast off her - the owner shouted it back but she was yelping and shaking and clearly scared blind by this attack. I was soooo lucky she was ok with no injuries, well, not physically anyway!! I have seen this dog lie down quietly in the owners yard across the road several times, it is usually a placid, well-behaved dog, and every time I see a big dog loose I scoop her up. As for people taking the p**s out of small dogs, it infuriates me sooo much! I live with my boyfriend and his brother, and his brother is consantly shutting her out just because she had an 'accident' of the wet variety in his room once (she was only 4 months at the time). Everytime she bounds up to him or his girlfriend they both push her away shouting 'go away!' or whatever else he decides to yell at her. Also, my family aren't big fans either! Especially my uncle who rips her so much as a 'rat on stilts' (lol) but really it does wind me up so much - she is MY baby, NOT theirs, yeah maybe if she was a rottweiler they'd shut their trap then! She is such a happy little soul, always wanting fuss and attention with anyone she meets, I'm sick of the way these small dogs get treated by 'non-small-dog-lovers' - THESE FURBABIES ROCK!!!! And are probably the best companions in the WORLD!!!!! xXx |

| We were at PetSmart the other day. When it gets cold people go there in the evening and pretend to be buying stuff but it is really doggie social! (oh of course we always end up buying something) Anyway as we rounded the corner Lexi doing ok at not pulling me around, met up nose to nose with a large mix breed of some sort. Anyway her human mommy said be careful because I just got her from rescue and we are out testing her socialization. Thank you! She said Lexi was cute. And I told her the new rescue dog was adorable and seemed very well behaved for his first time with her. Because that is how it should be when we are out with our pets! Maybe there should be signs up or something! |

| You cant be too careful , I have had a couple of incidents where dogs have tried to pick up my little Lottie as she is now terrified of other dogs, she will try to nip at them and run so I dont let her approach any dogs we dont know. She has some little yorkie friends here whom she adores but anything bigger than her or not a yorkie and she hates them!! As for that comment that woman made ,,how rude!!!i'm embarassed for some people!! They dont even seem to notice ho rude they are.

| This one is really quite simple. They are just jealous that you have a better dog. That's all. I wouldn't care if the old man was offended either. He should train his dog not to act like a barbarian. He reminds me of the parent of the child in the grocery store that screams his little head off when he doesn't get his way...Anyway, that is a different story. Sorry your beautiful day had to be spoiled. Hope tomorrow is better! |

| Someone should have a website for doggie owner manners.(I am sure there must be one already) Then when you meet up with the rude people you can just slip them a business card with the web address! "Nice to meet you, heres my card". |

| Ok, I'm ultra paranoid then because I won't even let Missy be approached by a poodle or a cocker spaniel LOL! The only dog that I trust around her completely is our pug dog Tang. I let her be around other animals, but I will not put her down within reach of them. She gets loads of socialization with people, it's just other dogs that I'm leery of. I just had to fork out 3,500 to repair a leg injury and I don't want to do it again! And I hear ya on the rude comments...last night at Petcetera I got an "are you sure that's even a dog" comment.

| I know all abotu it. I always scoop Lay up- two reasons. One i am worried that the approaching dog is not leashed and not mannered and two- Layla can be very aggressive if another dog gets in her face and I find when she is on the groud people just let their dogs appraoch her at full speed (which is what upsets her) without asking first. I find that peoplet hink that if you own a small toy breed you are free game for stupid remarks. |
