I am thankful they left when you came home. Worse things could have happened. People panic when a robbery is interrupted. My son and daughter-in-law were burglarized while they were at church one evening. My twin, two year old grandsons were with them. The 3 people are out on bond that robbed them, and I worry, constantly, about retaliation. I am glad you beefed up your security system. May I be a mother-hen and give you some advise? Always have hubby enter the house, before you, and let him make sure things are safe. Sheila | |

| So sorry you had to experience that. Thank God no one was hurt and that baby was with you. Same thing happened to us a few years ago but they were caught before they left. I was so afraid after that because at that time my husband worked nights. I would actually take a gun to the bathroom with me when I took a shower. It takes awhile to feel safe again. Thank God little Puddin was with you. People like that would thank nothing of hurting or even killing a puppy in their way. |

| Puddin' is soooooooo sweet!!! I just love her cute little face. I'm really sorry about what happened to you though. It must be a terrible feeling to have had your privacy invaded like that

| The other doggies were outside (it is summer here and they are outside during the warm weather) but they knew what was going on...Candy (the Maltese-JR cross) was freaked and is still showing signs of stress. Puddin' is fussed over wherever she goes. I have a puppy purse and have already had people walk up in the mall and say "do you have a puppy in that purse? Can I see?" Yesterday our iron worker came to measure the house for bars and to beef up our security gates (the thieves actually kicked down a heavy-duty gate) and I was holding Puddin when I answered the door and he gushed like a little girl over her! He had brought his wife with him and kept saying to her "Now, isn't that the cutest thing you've ever seen in yer life?" in his charming Scots accent. Unfortunately, an alarm system wouldn't have helped us in this one because they entered through a fixed window...those are never alarmed...by chipping out the window putty and lifting out the window pane. We can't have passives in the house because the dogs will set them off. Hubby is taking the day off from work to deal with the insurance, the maid should be here in an hour or so to put the house to rights, I'm still installing software on Hubby's old laptop so I can use it...and Puddin', of course, after spending another night tucked up with Mama and Papa, is sound asleep!

| Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement. Being half way around the world from my home of 50+ years can be daunting in the face of trauma. Fortunately my husband is level-headed and my in-laws are supportive, but your support has also been comforting. We are recovering. Puddin' slept in her own bed last night...she was SO happy to have her room back where she could play on the floor with her toys and eat and drink and pee when she wanted to! Living on Mama's bed had some serious restrictions! My maid put the house back together lickety-split, but we are still dealing with insurance and police...and poor Candy, our SPCA Maltese/JR, is still freaked out. This morning I was rummaging in my closet for something and the sound must have reminded her of the sounds the thieves were making because she just got hysterical! Hopefully this will be finished soon...but the insurance guy is due to come and give us a hard time next, so we are digging through our household paperwork to find the receipts for the missing stuff...not a pleasant task, since some of the items were purchased nearly 5 years ago! Ah, well, life goes on and Puddin' is not particularly photogenic yet, so she's actually a lot cuter than her pics show! Thank you all for your support and comforting words.

| Thank God that you and Puddin were not home when they burglarized your house!! If they were desperate enough to take a glass window pane out , imagine if they'd found you still there!! You have some fantastic Guardian Angels!! It ticks me off when people just can't others just live their lives in peace!! Blessings to you all,

| Puddin..... ....is so cute! I am glad all is well with her and the other babies. That is my biggest fear, being robbed and having my pets stolen or hurt. I am glad all turned out well. |

But they were unsophisticated and careless. I think they wasted time looking for my cell phone, as they unplugged the charging unit and put it on the bed. The biggest clue that they were pros, however, is that when they removed the TVs from the cabinets, they took care to disconnect all the wires (not cut them) and collect the remotes (usually left behind). They also took the power cords to the laptops (also often left behind). These guys knew what they were doing...they entered in such a way that they didn't alert the neighbours. And they knew what they had to do to get the best price for their loot...they were planning to take the remotes with the TVs...selling a TV without a remote is a tip off that it is stolen. But they lacked sophistication with regard to items of less-than-obvious value. These guys ransacked my house, in particular my closets...we are sure they were looking for a hidden wall safe, as they didn't even bother with the clothes in my husband's old fashioned armoire. Puddin's bedroom is my dressing room, where they pulled things out of the cupboards and closets and threw them around. What would they have done with a 1.5 lb puppy underfoot??? That's why I am SOOO glad we took her with us!

| OMG that's awful! Thank goodness you had Puddin with you (who is absolutely gorgeous by the way) I can't imagine what could have happened to her if she'd been left behind (years ago, neighbours of ours were broken into and their elderly labrador, Nero, was beaten to death by the theives) I'm so sorry that you had to come home to this after a wonderful evening, but I'm relieved that you and your furfamily are safe. It makes me so angry to know that there are people out there who think they can just take the things they want instead of having to work for them like the rest of us have to.
