I don't want to get into trouble for talking about donations for Truman's care~so this is not a request for donations. But since he has received donations on his page from YT members at the Yorkie Haven Rescue website I did want to thank everyone that has donated . With his vet bills adding up it is always nice to get a little help with his expenses to the rescue. He now has a little account all his own that will help with his mounting expenses to make him healthy again. YT sure has wonderful members and Truman thanks you as well.

Is he warm enough?

He's in my son's room and he likes to keep it like an OVEN in there. It's quiet and bark since he likes to sleep in late~plus the bed is right in front of the heat vent~he must think he's in heaven. But just in case I'm going to give him another blankie.

*Just so that you know~my son is 22 yrs old and an animal lover. I don't want anyone thinking that I have Truman sharing a room with a 5 yr old.

It sounds like he is so sweet. Its amazing how forgiving and resiliant these little thrown away babies can be. Im sure he is so grateful to be given a second chance.

Maybe he doesnt want to open his mouth because of it being infected for so long and he scared The hiding the food in other things doesnt ever work for my dogs they always catch on and eat around the pill or refuse the food. I always crush the pill into powder and mix it in with moist food. If that doesnt work I would try luvfla's idea.....just tell him what its for

I'm in Louisville which isn't far from there. I happen to find it when I was driving around there searching for a restaurant when I got stuck on "the sunny side of Louisville" during our recent snow storm. I clicked on the site, but it has been removed. Why do you want to go that far to get this particular dog~?

If he hadn't been picked up when I did, he would probably be dead right now. If the kill hadn't put him down because no body wanted this poor sick pup, all of the raging infections from his uncared for teeth would have most likely killed him. This should be a lesson for anyone who doesn't care for their pets teeth when they are young. It just leads to enormous dental issues that spread to their entire body. The infection was in his mouth, and has now traveled to his ears and respiratory system. It's just heartbreaking!

I wouldn't know how to care for a sick dog if I had one. I looked at numerous of adoptions places and those dogs seem ill. I got mine from a breeder in Indiana and he's been a good ole dog. I brush his teeth daily and give him a breathe mint afterwards Anyways, I've never had a dog before and wanted a puppy and a well one

I think he is doing much better! Turns out that my son has been giving him chicken treats all day! I did buy them for him because they were soft and thought he needed the extra calories. I just didn't realize he had been munching on them. I also opened a can of NB Potato and Duck andgave him about a spoon full of that mixed in a bunch of warm water and pumpkin. He ate/drank about half of that too! I was sneaky and put his crushed up pill in the side he was eating from~so he got his pill too. He looks much stronger and even got up for the first time and walked around the house a little!

Then he sat on my lap in a blankie and I combed his good ear and trimmed his infected ear. My wonderful husband took him outside to potty and now he is back in bed sleeping.

Alot of us dont know what to do to care for a sick one but sometimes just love, food and a warm home is a great start. The rest can be figured out as needed. One step at a time.

The world needs more people like megansmomma that are willing to look at the dog that no one else wants and help him heal and find his forever home. It has to be one of the most rewarding and unselfish things a person can do.
