Please send prayers and positive thoughts.

I just got home from dropping her off at Canada West Veterinary Specialists and Critical Care Hospital. She has broken her Lateral Condyle. I am attaching a picture to show what this means. The doctor will be putting a screw, a couple of pins and maybe some wire in there to hold it all together. She will be staying overnight for just 1 night, but maybe 2. He is *hoping* that the bone isn't broken across as well, if it is he's not sure that it can be repaired. She will be on 6 weeks of restricted activity.

I've started this new thread to update you all, but for those who don't know what happened, here is a LINK the original thread.

The vet will be calling me in 45 mins to 1 hr to update me on how the surgery went.

Ack, forgot to add. Bill for surgery is 3,100 - 3,500. Crazy hey?

Ah shame the poor baby, I will pray that she recovers soon and is back to her usual self... :)

Oh no. I'd read the original thread and kept her in my thoughts. I even went back and looked for an update later, but there wasn't one there.

I sincerely hope the surgery is successful. Please keep us posted.... I can only imagine the pain she's gone through.... and what she'll have to endure the next few weeks, too.

But please remember - these things happen. These are fragile dogs. It is not your fault. You have to be strong for Missy when she gets home, not be upset because you think you hurt her. We all make mistakes, and we all learn from them. Sometimes harder lessons than others.

Big hugs to you, and please keep us updated.

Poor little Missy! Im glad you finally found out what had happen...see you are a good mommy! I hope she recovers quickly!

Oh my! Those little ones don't know what is dangerous for them, do they?
Let us know how her surgery went. And YES, surgery is expensive. My "kids" vet lives in one of the toniest places in our county. Lansing Island....very nice.

You and Missy are in my prayers. I am so glad you updated us because I was wondering about her from the last post. I feel for you, I know there is no other feeling like sitting there knowing your baby is in surgery and you don't know what is going to happen. You feel so helpless. I have been there. Let us know when you know something please.

Oh, thank God you followed your instincts and took her back in for x-rays. What a terrific mommy! My thoughts and prayers are with Missy today. Please give her lots of smooches when you see her, and give us an update as soon as you can.

Thank you everyone. I am just sitting on pins and needles here waiting...I should have had a call by now! I'm worried SICK. :confused:

Shauna, so glad to find this update & to hear from u. I just checked yr other post & was worrying about you & Missy today. I will surely be praying for Missy that she will be ok & can heal through this quickly! :aimeeyork:hands::2hearts2: The waiting has to be so hard! Thankfully, you followed yr instincts & got her the help she needs. My thoughts are with you & little Missy!!

Omg you guys, I am really starting to freak out. I should have heard from the surgeon an hour ago. Why hasn't he called?!? I'm starting to break down here :cry: I'm suppose to be @ a Dr's appt for myself in 10 mins. I just had to call and cancel. There is no way I'm going there this upset. I'd call there, but I trust that the surgeon will call me as soon as he can. I'm just hoping that maybe his meeting before her surgery went longer then he expected.

Oh man...I can't take much more of this. :(:(:(

the chance to get back to you.
Finger's crossed for Missy that all went well with her surgery.

HUGS!!:ghug: We always fear the worst while waiting.....it could be lots of things like you said about the meeting. Hang in there! If he doesn't call soon & you need to call....I'm sure the receptionist can at least ease yr mind about whether she's still in surgery or surgery was delayed, etc.

Shauna delays in calls doesn't always mean it is a bad thing . . perhaps they did not anticipate how delicate and small her bones are and that is why it is taking so long . . .but I sure understand your worries . . I would be just as frantic . . . know she is in my prayers . . .and I am so sorry I just found out about her condition . . .

I think you are so lucky to be able to find a specialist so quickly . .am sure he is very good at what he does . .

My vet put the referral through as an emergency and within 5 mins of her doing that they phoned and booked an appt for the following morning. I am EXTREMELY lucky that she got in there so quickly. I have full confidence in her surgeon. She couldn't be in better hands. I still can't help but to worry. She is so tiny and delicate, and has been through so much the past 3 days. I am giving them until noon (10 more mins), then I'm calling. I need to know what's going on.

I have to thank my Mom for this one. She is allowing me to charge this humongous vet bill on our joint Visa card and make payments over the next few months. She's the BEST. If it weren't for her, I couldn't have done the surgery.

K, I just called there. I couldn't wait any more. The receptionist said that he's just finishing up with her, and he should be able to give me a call in about half an hour. :xfingers:

He just called! She made it through and is awake but groggy. They want to keep her groggy and just have her sleep today. He apologized for taking so long. He said it was a very difficult surgery to do. His words were "it's like microscopic surgery". He said her little bones were sooo tiny in comparison to his fingers and it was extremely hard to do what he had to. But he said it all went well...he's pleased with the outcome, and her prognosis is GOOD. He will call me in the morning, and I will likely be able to pick her up tomorrow. :D

I'm so glad everything went well, and she has a good prognosis. It won't be long now until she is at home healing right up!

i just went and read your other thread... and then this one.. and YAYAYAYAYAYAY good job Missy!!!! We will be praying for a speedy recovery- we hope you can go home to your mommy tomorrow :D Please keep us posted!!
