We're home! She's doing awesome. The bill was a little cheaper than my original quote too. It was $2,955 for surgery, plus $480 in vet costs from before she went to the specialist.

That's about how much Dr. Francis of Canada West quoted for LP surgery except the printout quote was in the $3800's but he said it will likely be a little under that (more closer to the quote they gave our referral/regular vet originally) which is about your range. But that was for 2 knees. :)

Did you get Dr. Francis? He gives me a really good feeling as far as his skills go but a bit too eager for a "cut and fix". I was told by my vet that almost all orthopedic surgeons are like that as she's learned from having worked under one for 7 or 9 yrs previously (I have a really poor memory :p ).

Happy for you that everything went well! Success stories like yours help to give me confidence for future surgeries we may be in need of. :)

Yep! That was Missy's surgeon. I really get a great feeling from him too. He was awesome! :thumbup:

I am sick, tired, and relieved to have her home. Missy, on the other hand, looks great hey? I was expecting worse.

Shaunna, I am so very sorry - I completely missed this thread until this very moment, just finished reading through it. I am so very happy that little Missy did well in surgery and is safe at home. What a roller coaster ride you've been on for the past couple of days.

I will pray for a speedy and complete recovery.

AND.... I loved the pic of the two of you. Two very lovely ladies. You have INCREDIBLE eyes - but I guess people tell you that all the time.

I'm sooooooooooooooooooooo glad to hear she's doing so good! I had no idea that you could give them boiled chiken. How do you make it, just plain with no spices?

Thanks to all of you! I'm sitting here with Missy on my lap. Finally, it feels like things are settling down. Hopefully she sleeps well tonight. Her medication really seems to be helping. She's on 3 different kinds, so I'm sure she mustn't be feeling any pain. :)

Yep, I just boiled it with no spices and put equal parts of chicken and rice. When I cooked the rice I used half water and half chicken broth just to add some flavour. She GOBBLED it up. Omg, I've never seen her eat like that before! She ate SO fast, and had two servings. She still wanted more, but I was worried about her overdoing it so I didn't let her. I'm glad that I decided to give her that. She really enjoyed it.

awwww I just got done reading thru this entire thread about that precious Missy!! I'm so happy and relieved to hear that she's doing well!!

Don't worry about bumping your thread...we all want to be kept up-to-date on her progress!!!!

I loved the pic of you two....you looked thrilled....missy just looked relieved to be back in mommy's arms!!! Adorable!!! :)

She's feeling pretty comfy (on her Diggy4) bed now. Giving her a break from the cone, she doesn't need it when I can keep a good eye on her :)

Her bandage goes up too high though. Waiting to hear back from the vet on what I should do about that. It's starting to rub.

I've been on the road for 2 days but HAD to check in on Missy finally! I'm SO very happy she's ok and home with her momma!!!

I haven't been on much and just seen this. OMGosh, I'm so sorry she had to go through all of this. I'm so glad she is out of surgery and on the road to recovery. I bet you were so scared with her being so tiny and all. Thanks to God for watching over her. I know she's in good hands with you and you'll spoiler her beyond belief. Sending my thoughts, hugs, and prayers!!

Oh I'm glad she is home and I hope the pain meds help her stay calm as well as pain free. Keep us posted. She sure is a little sweetie.

Just an update...
 
Thanks everyone! I truly believe that it's all of the positive vibes sent our way that got Missy through this. She had an awesome night last night. She slept really well, and she's doing great today. If things continue as they have, there's no doubt in my mind that her recovery will go smoothly. :thumbup:
