I saw that on the news this morning... It isn't like it would be the same dog... just look like it. It may have some of the same temperments but it isn't the same dog. Like someone else said they could have given that money to research or heck they could have paid off all of our credit card debt and student loan debt with that lol

Wow...some of your reactions are way over the top. Albeit, Mr and Mrs Otto's actions are over the top, too, IMO. Still, it makes me wonder if some of you actually read the entire article.

To be sure, the Ottos love their animals. On their 12-acre spread in West Boca, Fla., the couple tend to four birds, 10 cats and six sheep along with their kennel’s worth of pooches.

Edgar Otto told the paper he donates considerable sums to his local Humane Society — and promised that if the Ottos bring an 11th dog into their home, it will come from a shelter.

On the surface, it appears to me that these are responsible pet owners and how they spend their money is no one elses business. Maybe its not a decision that most of us would make, but we shouldn't begrudge them for making this decision and having the means to make it happen.

And to the person who made the "a yellow lab is a yellow lab" comment. Do you feel the same way about yorkies? Afterall, there all just dogs.

We are each entitled to our own opinions. Not everyone will agree with eachother. That's what makes us all unique. They are entitled to spend their money however they would like, just like we are entitled to having our opinions and our discussions on how we feel about their decision.

WE are all entitled to our own opinions, and not all of us will agree , that needs to be respected, not put down.
I would love that much money to splurge on something that ridiculous. I wonder if the family has any children? Their animals are their life, and that's why they chose to do that...
If i were them, I'd put it to good use and donate $$$ to shelters all over the country, saving millions of lives.

I for one am not going to judge these people. It's their money, and whose to say if I lost one of my dogs and HAD that kinda coin that I wouldn't spend it to bring them back, even if it was just a look-alike. They obviously loved that animal, just as we all love ours.

out of my paychecks I save some spend some donate some... I don't just save and donate, I also spend. and some times on things i dont NEED.

How many times have people said you spent too much on your yorkie????

I spent 950 which was in my budget. I have had some tell me it was a good deal and some tell me that it was crazyy!!!!!


obviously these people do the same.

Work save donate and spend.

and they spent the money that was in their budget.


Im not like pro cloning or anything, I feel like that is "playing god" and a lil creepy.

You all make alot of good points, I personally don't "Judge" anyone, it's their Money, their business etc., but IMO too bad money can't buy you Happiness or a Brain? I watched it on TV. when the Story first came out, the only difference I see between them and some one else is "Money" to me they still fall into the same category as "Animal Horders", the couple also have many other Dogs! Without getting into too many details, I think the whole idea sounds SICK! The fact that they paid that much money is SICK! Yeah, I LOVE
all 3 of my Dogs too, but if something happened to them, I would let them go.
Grow-up and be Mature and accept their passing.
