YorkieTalk Newbie! | Hi, I'm new! _Jenny_ Hello everyone! My name is Jenny. I'm new to this site so I just wanted to say "HI" and introduce myself. I'm 22 years old (23 on Jan. 20th!!) and I live in Rockford IL, near Chicago. I currently do NOT own a Yorkie, but as soon as tomorrow I will be a proud owner of my first dog!! I've never had a dog before so I have a lot to learn. I'm very worried about the puppy I'm going to buy as I don't know ANYTHING about finding good breeders. As soon as I'm done posting this I will make another post with my breeder questions in the "regional" area on this site. Hopefully I will then get some feedback so I can feel comfortable about buying this puppy I found : ) So anyways....I am so glad I found this site. It is the absolute BEST Yorkie site out there. So I'm glad to be a part of it now. Thanks everyone! -Jenny ps- I hope I'm posting on the correct forum, Yorkie Talk sent me THIS MESSAGE: "Hello _Jenny_, Our records indicate that you have never posted to our site before! Why not make your first post today by saying hello to our community in our General Discussion forum." So I'm assuming I'm at the right place : )

| Hi Jenny Welcome If this is your first puppy then my advice is Read Read Read The more information you get the better As far as breeders go the best is someone who is breeding their own pet stay away from breeders who have many many dogs at their site They are likely puppy mills and those do terrible thing s to keep the puppys coming ... and you're likely going to get some genetic problems When you do purchase your puppy Know that it is a lot of work esp in the beginning They are just like babies ... they cry they poop and pee in the wrong places they chew and eat things that are dangerous and don't understand the human language But they are a joy .. and you'll be hooked from the start Best of luck

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Wow, thanks for all the welcoming replies! And for the advice too, that is ALWAYS appreciated. I just wanted to update my situation too: So today I checked out my local newspaper, and I could NOT even believe my luck. There was a new post today for Yorkie pups!! I called and she had 3 girls available. I was planning on driving 2.5 hours away to see 2 puppies, but I've very suspicious that that person might be running some type of puppy mill!!! The ones I found today are literally only 2.5 MINUTES away. I went and looked at the puppies, the woman even said I could have one for $50 LESS than her asking price. So now I'm about 100% I'll have my baby girl TOMORROW!!!!!! She's 8 weeks old and $600, a little more than I had hoped to spend, but really that is a good price compared to what most people charge. Her puppies were an "unplanned surprise", she has both the mom and dad, and they all look very healthy (minus one of the smaller ones who I noticed shivered the whole time!). So tomorrow I'll be playing with them all, and hopefully finding the one that's right for me. I'll be updating in my blog (and maybe on this post too) with more info and PICTURES soon! If anyone else has any tips or advise, it's much appreciated still. I'm too excited to sleep, so I'll be doing as much research as possible tonight. Thanks again everyone for being so welcoming!! Everyone seems SO SO SO kind and helpful. I know I'll love it here! -Jen
