| Weird woman asking questions about Twinkle Yesterday evening I took Twinkle out into the front garden to do her business. There's a footpath at the bottom of the garden and a lady walked past with her King charles spaniel on a long retractable lead. Her dog stopped and was looking at Twinkle through the gate and wagging its tail - the woman then OPENS my gate and comes in! Saying 'oh isn't it cute, is it a girl?' I was a bit shocked that she'd just come into my garden and her dog was diving all over Twinkle and frightening her. I picked Twinkle up as the woman walked towards us (not easy with a wriggly 8pounder) and the woman said, 'How much did she cost you?' (such a rude question IMO) and I said 'I dont know she was a gift' (not true), and then she says, 'are you going to breed her, yorkie pups are worth a fortune.' I said 'No, she's fixed,' (another lie - her appointments next friday). During all this I was going back towards my house, hoping she'd just go as she was making me feel REALLY uncomfortable. As I stepped indoors her spaniel - still on its really long lead was about to follow me in! The woman said, 'Ooops, shut your door quick' THE CHEEK!!!so I shouted - 'HOW ABOUT YOU GET YOUR DOG OUT OF MY F*****G GARDEN!!!' Now I'm not proud of the swearing, but this woman was really starting scare me. A bit later I saw her from my bedroom window walk back past my gate and sort of peer at my kitchen window, by the time I came running out to tell her to get lost again or I was going to call the police she was gone. I know that most people who engage in interest in our yorkies are just fans and admirers but if someone makes you feel uneasy then your instincts are usually right IMO, so be wary of strangers around your furbabies - there are NUTTERS out there!!! xxx xxx

| Wow that's freaky ! You handled just about like I would ...except the GET THE **** OUT OF MY GARDEN would have been the first thing I said when she started for my gate I think I might have trust issues I always say follow you intuition , it's usually not wrong and if she made you uneasy , there was a reason.

| I get this sometimesNot just with Mika but with my other two dogs too. If they ask me where they're from I always say that they're mutts "free to good home" out of the paper. It really scares me, esp. when they ask how much they're worth. I think most people like this just have no boundries and were never taught respect, but some may be up to no good so I think it always pays to be wary. You absolutely did the right thing! I just can't believe she just let herself onto your property like that

| Yeah, that whole situation was way too intrusive. I would have told her where to go too

| Our new neighbors have two PITBULLS, and I swear every time I take my bailey outside they are watching. Because every time I'm out there with her, here they come with those dumb dogs!! ( I am terrified of big dogs.) They are so evil and vicious looking, always barking at my baby like she's breakfast. And the day they moved in I was going down the road, the owner peaked his head in the car and said "Oh a yorkie, I have two pitbulls who would just LOVE her..." I was like I don't think so buddy. If those dogs ever jump the fence they won't make it far >_< But every time I go out and they start to come out also, I pick Bailey up and race inside.

| Lucia..i always have a standard answer ready for anyone who i think is a bit TOO interested in Molly. I tell them she is adorable, but has a lot of medical problems!. (just incase they were thinking of kidnapping her!) My elderly mum had someone knock on her door the other day..pretending to sell something and all the while trying to get into her house. Fortunately i have drummed it into mum not to let anyone through the door. There are some scary people out there. Hopefully you wont have any more encounters with that woman and her dog. |

| wow! that's kind of crazy! you did good protecting your baby! a couple of times people did/said bad things to my baby, and I did not do well as a mom to protect her (i was being too polite) but i think what you did is good! I have no idea what i would have done if that happened to me. you know, people really like to ask the $$$ question about yorkies! i used to just tell the truth, but i don't feel comfortable with it either. i am always really worried that someone will steal her! my friend always tell people that she adopted hers from the shelter (which is a lie) i asked her why she lies, and she says that because she thinks people should adopt from the shelters anyways, before i had milu, i never asked yorkie owners how much their yorkies cost them! i always ask them about the temperament and how to care for them! the $$$ questions is just odd(if not rude!)

| Stupid woman. I really hate people like that. I would of said the same thing to her as well but I would of had maybe 3 extra swear words in there too.

| Ok I thought it was just a curious question(s) for her to ask. Maybe she was just trying to start up a conversation with you and felt this was the only way how. For her to be walking her dog by afterwards still does not seem strange. Yes the question about the price of the yorkie is a little much, but still not deemed "weird" some people want yorkies and they are wondering about the cost of a beautiful yorkie, this could be a really good educational question if you speak to her about the cost in detail about the average of a healthy yorkie and what to expect from breeders. The dog she was walking also are very pricey with major health issues if not bred right, so she could just be curious on everything. Sorry yt members if I don't agree with the weirdness of the OP, the other lady could have walked off thinking the same thing. J |

wouldn't that make you uncomfortable? i mean, it makes me feel that the only criteria they are thinking about is the price of the puppy? nothing else...

Yes I feel it was right to be cautious about the woman just entering her yard, but I agree that the lady was just curious. She may be wondering about getting a yorkie herself, and was just wondering about the breed. She may have also been just trying to start up a friendship. I would have been cautious, but maybe not so rude. Yorkies are so cute that they just seem to attract people, who want to just see them, and see how sweet. You were right in picking up your baby, and keeping her out of harms way from the other bigger dog.
