Yes I feel it was right to be cautious about the woman just entering her yard, but I agree that the lady was just curious. She may be wondering about getting a yorkie herself, and was just wondering about the breed. She may have also been just trying to start up a friendship. I would have been cautious, but maybe not so rude.
Yorkies are so cute that they just seem to attract people, who want to just see them, and see how sweet.
You were right in picking up your baby, and keeping her out of harms way from the other bigger dog.
