| Help, Saw ad for Female Yorkie for sale I just read in my local paper an ad for a Yorkie for sale. It reads.....Female Yorkie AKC Registered. Up to date on shots and wormings. Vet checked and healthy. Ready to go to a loving home $400.00 for more info e-mail me. I am going to e-mail for more info on her, but I am leary about this. I know I need to ask about her age, size, vet checks, parents, if this puppy was born to one of their dogs or if she was purchased and why she is being sold. What else should I find out? |

| You need to make sure there is a health guarantee that lasts at least a year and covers all hereditary and congenital defects. Also, what health testing was done on the parents to ensure a healthy puppy.

| You should ask if you can see the dog at the seller's location, & if she's been spayed.

| You didn't say how old she is. If she is at least a year old, be sure to look at her teeth and gums. Make sure that her mouth is healthy looking and all her teeth are adults with no rows of baby teeth still there. The costs for teeth care can be a lot of $$$. Also, be sure she shows you paperwork on the vet visits with health clearances and shot records. Don't just take their word for it. ~Kathy

| Before making any decisions I would definately see the dog at the home. Look at the temperment of the dog, and check out any possible health problems. Ask for medical records too. If the dog has not recieved propper medical care, then be leary. I would be curious why the yorkie is being rehomed? Any behavior problems? I'd worry mostly about it's health and temperment. AND the age of the animal.

| Ask them why they dewormed her. I personally would not buy from a breeder whose dogs have worms. Deworming a dog that does not have worms is feeding poison to a dog unnecessarily. So I would ask Why. |

| Almost every pup I have ever bought has been dewormed. The vet always deworms mine anyway, if they haven't already been dewormed just to be on the safe side. |

Why would anyone deworm a dog that does not hve worms. this is not a harmless medication, this is a poison Would you deworm an infant "just to be on the safe side"? I'm not putting anyone down, just wnat to make people aware that what some look at as a routine worming is ctually very hard on puppies. One breeder tat i talked to said she dewormed 3 times before she sold her puppies. Why?? If your adult dogs do not have worms, where are the puppies going to get worms? | |

| It is a scam This was the response to my e-mail about this puppy. Thanks for your interest in my lovely baby. She is still very much available for a new home. She is 11 weeks old,she will be 4lbs at full grown, her parents weighed 3-4lbs at full grown, She is AKC registered and have all shots given up to date, she is vet checked and healthy. All her papers will accompany her, But right now i am in africa on a Christian mission with my wife and we have her right here with us.We are going to ship her to you via Express pets delivery on next day delivery after shippment through a shipping agent , i am leaving her for $400 Including shipping. If you are interested in having her, i want you to get back to me with your full name, address, phone number including the nearest airport to you. Please if you know that you are not going to take very good care of my baby do not reply me because i am only giving her out because we dont have time to take care of her again due to the mission work before us here..Await your response. Thanks and God Bless. Thanks to all of you on Yorkietalk.com I realize this is a scam. I read this exact wording on a recent post and recognized it. Thank you all again. |
