| Wow he does sound like a sweet boy who is in desperate need of a loving home! You are so sweet to take him in. When I bought my 2 boys it was not love at first sight, I was still heartbroken from the loss of my other yorkie 2 months earlier, he was love at first sight. My boys now are my world, my life, my loves! I couldn't imagine the world without them. I couldn't imagine my home without them. I don't know if its ok to let your love grow for him or if you wanted to love him immediately, but you WILL love him, no doubt about it. They are just so hard not to love.

| Things are going pretty good, considering it's freezing cold outside and neither of them want to go out and potty! My kids think he's a sweet boy and he did fine with the 3 grandkids here for a birthday gathering. I had a diaper on him because I knew I wouldn't be able to keep a close eye on him for an hour or so...everyone thought that was hilarious, especially because the diaper just would not stay on his skinny little butt! LOL He really warmed up to my 10-yr old grandson and since he was the birthday boy, that made him feel special. My DH and SIL are determined to call him "Bob"...don't ask me why - but if I don't come up with another name, I'm afraid "Bob" will stick! I had planned to name a little boy "Elliott", but I'm not sure if that name suits him. All in all, he is doing great. He is just happy to lay right here beside me on the chair. I'm already finding myself becoming attached to him...and it's only been a day. So I think I can put my worries to rest; I think ya'll were right, a few days is all it will take for him to work his way into my heart!

| I have always had large dogs. I decided to look for a small dog that did not shed. After looking for several weeks, I came home with a baby Yorkie. I had a hard time bonding with her. She is very cute, but I hadn't had a puppy to house train in about 6 yrs. Besides that I had two large dogs to introduce the baby to. I had to watch the baby so closely around them for a while that I think I was just overwhelmed. My Yorkie baby has been with us for 4 wks, doing very well with the large dogs, no problems and is doing very well with her potty pad training. I can now say we have definitely bonded. |

| We've just passed the 48 hour mark and things are going well. I will be calling the rescue place tomorrow and let them know we're keeping him! He seems comfortable and content here and we've had very few problems. I do believe he will be an alpha once his true personality surfaces...he and my dh had a small stand-off tonight when he must have thought that my safety was jeoparadized...dh was being goofy doing a little moonwalk-shuffle kind of thing and suddenly stopped right in front of me, I guess wanting my applause or something. Little guy sat straight up and barked/growled at dh, but dh took the alpha role and won the stare-down! LOL He really is a sweet boy and I am so glad I found him!

| I think I fell in love with Sophie on the way down to see if I wanted her, so, there ya go! I think everything real takes a bit of time. You have wanted a little guy for a long time, so you're probably right that you built it up a bit in your head, but who of us here wouldn't? I also think that writing about anything helps sort it out because we can see it in front of us and it's so much clearer. At any rate, YOU ARE SO COOL to take on a pup who obviously has gone through a lot and didn't have anyone to take him on until you came. That really counts here and in Someones big book as well. The best dog I have ever had was a huge, flea infested, brown standard poodle that had been abandoned and locked in a garage by people who just moved away one day and left him there! Well, I was only 16, knew it would be a hard sell at home especially since we already had a dog, but I had to do something. So, I snuck over, broke the lock and let him out. He flew by me and ran down the street so happy to be out. So for several weeks I saw him running around the neighborhood. He was getting skinnier and skinnier. I couldn't stand it anymore, so I brought him home. Promised my parents that I was going to clean him up, feed him and find him a great home. Huh! No problem, they were fine with that, a surprise to me. So, I shaved him, my first time using a shaver, bathed him, defleaed him and fed him the best I could. I had nightmares about fleas forever,but... turns out he was silver, beautiful and completely devoted to me. I know he knew I saved him. He knew it. He never left my side. My parents turned in the people who left him. They came to our house when they heard we had taken him in and said he was theirs. The police became involved and the last time I saw him was in back of a squad car. "Sam" was all mine. Love at first site, absolutely not. I felt better about him after his haircut. I fell in love with him when he put his big head on my knee and looked up at me. I could hear every thought he had and I felt the same way. I'd love to hear when that feeling comes over you, and it will, just give yourself some time. It comes whether you want it to or not! Hug yourself for me! |
