great pictures! I wonder if this family that has your other dog would be willing to watch him one afternoon a week or something. You should ask. I'm sure they would love it for their dog and it would be great for Tokes.

Thanks for all the encouraging words!! I think I need to suck it up and make it work. I do live at home and my mom will help occasionally on the weekends if she's not out and about. My dad refuses to help me take care of Tokes because I keep him in my room and not the kitchen. I think it's more comforting for me and Tokes that he sleeps and is crated in my room. There is no one home during the day, so there's no commotion for him in the kitchen to keep him occupied anyway. I really want to take him to doggy day care, and will probably have to do that. Although I don't have the funds, maybe my mom will help me out. With the increase in work hours soon, I will most likely be working about 40hrs/week. Since the semester is over, I don't have to worry about school work for about a month. I know for a fact that he will not pee or poop in my room, but I'm scared that he will one day, out of the blue! The lady that had him before said he was trained to pee only on the pee-pads, but it didn't seem like it when I brought him home. He hasn't used it once. I think that I will use a "belly band" for him while I am not home. Do you think that could help? He is neutered, but maybe this will let him know that he isn't allowed to pee in the house while I'm not home. PS--Tokyo does have a brother..his name is Stewie and he's a Shih-Tzu! He's almost four and we gave him away when we gave Tokyo away. The family we gave him to absolutely adores him. I love them and Stewie seems very happy there. They live down the street from me. Maybe I will ask if they want to set up a weekly play date. Probably on Saturdays while I'm working. Again, thanks so much! I'm going to try harder to make it work. PPS-- That's Stewie! Second is my two babes sleeping on my bed. The third is Stewie and Bandit playing. Bandit was our special dog. He was almost borderline psycho with energy. So hyper! He lived with my boyfriend and his family. He was hit by vehicle at 1 yr and 6 months. RIP crazy baby.

I know where you are coming from. Reese used to pee all the time on the carpet at my parents house and it drove my dad nuts. When I moved into my apartment I was really worried that she would pee on the carpet. I take her out every hour or 2 when I am home and she does fine. I set some pee pads down the first day we moved in, just incase she would go on them. I was still hesistant when we went to sleep that night. I woke up the next morning to see that she went on her pads! I was shocked because she rarely ever did it at my parents house. My apartment is small so i'm thinking they are easier for her to find and remember where they are. If I leave for class or errands I take her out before I leave. While I'm gone she will go on the pads if she has to go. She occasionally will poop on the carpet but she's doing better with going outside. I second taking her for a walk. Reese loves them. When I come back from class or errands she is usually very hyper and happy to see me. The walks really calm her down and she is usually ready to relax when we get back inside. It really helps especially if I am tried or need to study.
