| Am I COBBY or plain CHUBBY? I FIRST WOULD LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE NICE PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD! Although the board has some problems like any other, the good outweighs the bad by far!! I finally got this little guy to stay still long enough to take a side shot .. I keep asking if he's too chunky (vet said he was and I guess it's kind of bothering me) but he also said he was a pretty small yorkie, so I am wondering if maybe he is just "cobby" short and kind of thick in build, maybe that is why he thought he was chubby? I am new to Yorkie's and many have said he looks cobby, I really didn't have any idea what that meant, however, after researching a bit he does appear cobby to me.. what do you guys think? He only eats 1/2 cup of kibble a day so I don't think he can be overweight.. Baby Fat at the very Most! I DO KNOW THIS MUCH, he is a STINKER! and SPOILED ROTTEN! Guess that would be my fault lol.. he is learning to sit though which means he's pretty darn smart the little boog! Gucci is 12 weeks by the way |

| Welcome! - it's hard to tell from pictures, but he doesnt look overweight to me but i guess you would have to take his weight, mesurements, etc. into account.. ? i dont know... - what are you feeding him?? that could have alot to do with it.. if there are fillers, by-products, even some grains in his food.. that could have alot to do with it.. he could be eating the same amount of 2 different foods and have a different result. he looks cute to me..

| His build reminds me of my Daisy. I'm not familiar with the term cobby so I'm hoping to learn more about it. Thanks.

I am feeding EUKANUBA PUPPY for Small breeds and he has Cheerios for training treats ( plain cheerios ) nothing else, he was getting nutri-cal in the a.m but I've cut that out unless I feel he has had a stressful trip or long day. Is Eukanuba a good food or should I go with something like EVO? Tx Thank you I think he's cute either way too | |

| From what I have gathered cobby means, short and square? with littler legs and an even build. Your Daisy does look somewhat Cobby like I am picturing it but I could be ALL WRONG lol... She is a beautiful girl by the way ( your little Daisy! ) I love her cut!! |

| BrowniesMom622- that makes me feel better! the vet is a very good one and absolutely great with my baby but I thought he was maybe wrong on this one too!! He will be fine and healthy so long as he doesn't stay "Chubby" when he's older right? I've heard that it puts stress on the bones of yorkies if they are overweight and can cause health problems, is that correct? phfgkl - thank you so much, you know how I feel about your little baby she is so adorable!! |

if you do a search on here, on food, you will find a ton of info. eukanuba is not known to be a premium kibble.. so you may want to check that out.. and see about changing.. we have given cheerios to Avie, since she was a baby and continue to give them to both girls! we never gave nutrical to Avie on a daily basis.. we had it on hand and would only give it to her, if needed(if she wasn't eating, etc.) with Gemma we gave her nutrical daily when we first brought her home (because she was so little) and then slowly stopped giving it to her But, Cheerios were a great training treat for us! EVO is a great kibble.. it is a VERY high protein food.. so you should slowly introduce it to him... since he is just a puppy (really you should do this with any food, though ) i would search & research some of the food threads.. and go from there.. we currently feed our girls.. Ziwi Peak (air dried & canned) Natural Range Of Premium Pet-food Products - Ziwipeak - Natural New Zealand Pet Nutrition Nature's Variety Instinct Canned & RAW medallions Product Choices For My Dog | Nature's Variety (we only leave the kibble out, so it is available to them in case they get hungry.. but their main diet is what i posted above! ) the kibble we leave out for them right now is either Nature's Variety or INNOVA/EVO.. let me know if you have any questions..

| Averyxo - Thank you for all of the helpful information! I will definately go look in the food section and see what I can find, I feed my pitbulls INNOVA EVO RED MEAT which is very HIGH in protein... so that is why I was considering something along the lines of EVO for the baby but the breeder had him on Eukanuba and recommended it for him so I thought maybe that was what he was supposed to have. He was on the nutri-cal initally because he was so small when we got him, he was only 1 lb 3 oz at 9 weeks I don't know what happened but he BALOONED! I am starting to wonder if maybe he wasn't eating much at his previous place .. he was still chubby looking when he was little though so I don't really know... he sure has gained a lot though lol THANK YOU AGAIN!! |

| He might just be more squarely built. Can you feel his ribs? You should be able to feel his ribs. |

| well regardless your baby is adorable and i am also a believer that a chubby puppy is good they run around so much they need their energy...my bentley was such a chub (and he is considered cobby and he had thick, gorgeous puppy hair) and he looked ginormous i think at 3 or 4 weeks he was over 1.5 lbs ... he actually had ROLLS on his arms and legs and a double chin ... he grew out of it though and stands now (over a year old) at a shade over 3 lbs i think your puppy looks healthy and beautiful!

good to hear you know about this food.. EVO has small bites (which we feed ) let me know how it goes.. i think your baby is just going through a little growth spurt... every yorkie grows differently, at different times!
