| gentle leader?? i took maisy to sign up for the puppy love class at our local obidence trainer. i have heard only good about this place, so i am not questioning it, but they have a rule that all dogs MUST wear a gentle leader brand leash and muzzle type thing. it goes around her mouth to avoid damage to her trachaea which is good, but i feel sooo bad for maisy! she cries and rubs her head and mouth when its on..& its not to tight or anything. the people there said she will get used to it soon, but in the meantime, i wanted to know how to get it on her easier without her biting it and me...has anyone else used the Gentle Leader?? please reply!!! |

| I have never heard of using a gentle leader on such a small dog before??? Big dogs, I can understand, but not small - it's not like they have much force to pull you with. As for the muzzle - I guess is a good safety precaution for all the dogs, but I would feel terrible too.

| I dont know about using a gentle leader in small breeds. I use a harness on Gucci and that works for us. I guess I feel bad putting a muzzle like thing on her. Please let us know how the classes go. |

| There are Gentle Leader for dogs of 5 pounds and under . I used one that I borrowed from a friend for Gioia and it worked wonderfully . If you use it , you'll have to get your little one use to it , you let her wear it for short time just like if getting used to a harness and leash . Gioia was terrible when I went to walk with her , with the harness and lead she was going from one side to the other but with the Gentle Leader , a person have total control of the dog . |

| gentle leader help! Has anyone been able to get your gentle leader to fit right? I had the trainer try to fit my new baby Yorkie (11 weeks) and she couldn't do it. I've watched the DVD that came with the leader and I still can't figure it out. It seems like Tater Tot's ears are too far back for the leader to fit right. Please help! Thank you! |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I've used gentle leaders on both Dayzee and Bailey, as well as harnesses. Take the puppy and the gentle leader to the local pet store..they should be able to help teach you how to put it on if the trainer can't help you. |

| We use it, our vet recommended it when Willy was starting a hacking cough. Willy knows that he doesn't go outside without it and doesn't fight me to put it on, it's really not his favorite thing, but he is used to it. We have been using it for about 4 years. And as for the muzzle part, it is not a muzzle, he can still eat, drink, bite & bark with it on. I like it, and it works well for us. Desiree |
