| Aw, what a cutie! I'm not sure if he's overweight or not, but my parents have a yorkie that has a more "stout" build. And she just always appears to be chunky. And don't feel like a bad mommy! It's obvious you care for him so much...accidents happen. When Miles was little, I took him to Target with me. I had my hands full in the parking lot, and set him on a lawn chair I had just bought...I just needed to get some stuff into the car. I took my eye off him for LITERALLY one second, and he freaked out and fell off...onto the hard surface of a parking lot. I felt so so so so bad. He was fine, thank goodness, but I made about a million calls to the vet that day. Just keep doing what you're doing. The first couple weeks are a LOT of work with the potty training, sleep deprivation, etc. But the more work you put in now, the sooner it will get easier. I think in a couple weeks you'll find that you feel normal again. |

| yorkiemomto4 - thank you for the comment on him and thank goodness he didn't break anything .. that is exactly how I felt Bildio - It is very possible, he has been called Cobby .. I am new to Yorkies so I am not TOO Familiar with the term, I have just gathered that it isn't a bad thing ...How much does your baby weigh and what is he like, is he small but stocky making him weigh more and appear somewhat chunky? Lindsay - I agree, anytime I cannot keep an eye on him he is in his little vinyl house and that is exactly where he was before hubby decided he was going to spend some time with him and then it happened.. But I think hubby has learned a most valuable lesson with this whole thing, and I am so grateful my baby isn't injured. Mikilynn - My little Gucci seems to think he is superman as well and made of concrete, he tries for the craziest things and is definately a daredevil so I am always on him like a hawk... lol and Thank you for the kind words! I am trying to be the best momma I can be for him .. he has definately brought out that motherly instinct in me .. My girls are 10 and 13 so it has been a while since I have had to watch over them every second. Diego - Thank you so very much! MilesDavis - I think he may be just that "short and stout" lol like a little mini teapot haha .. Sorry to hear about your scare I am sure you were panicking! It is not a good feeling... I am just glad that part is all over and he is ok. I am already starting to feel a little more comfortable with all the support from everyone here, so THANK YOU SO MUCH! |

| it will get better, I promise. more of the fun part and less of the pain and worries, it just takes some getting use to, for him and for your family. I've had similar experience when I first got my girl Dolly, even though she was already 8 months old at the time. within the first week, she jumped out of the bath tub when I was giving her a bath and turned around for two sec and she jumped out and broke her leg. she was not as lucky as your boy, not only she broke the leg, the bone was misplaced too. so she had to have surgery the very next day. the vet corrected the bone and put a pin in there to keep the bone in place. she had to wear a cast on her leg for 4 weeks. and after the bone had healed, the vet had to do another surgery to take the pin out. so, you should be happy at least nothing that serious happened. just be careful and you and hubby will get use to having a little bit around in no time. and your boy is such a cutie and he does look sturdy even though he is small! wish you and your boy all the best! |

| YOur little guy is so cute. Mine has jumped off the bed and we've laid on them. They keep loving us. I am glad he is not hurt very bad. Just one thing for you to think of if he is somewhat quiet. We took our first 2-3 babies in small purses to carriers with us every where. We even took them to church, restaurants, movies. I folded up a pee pad and if they started to get ancy I put them on the pad at the movies, in the restroom at the restaurant. No one ever knew I had them with us until we started showing people what we had in the bag. We had to share they were too cute. If they started yelping at all we took turns coughing until we could get them a snack or a drink of water. It was quite a performance. I have had 2 yorkies get a cough from sleeping on my chest with a fan blowing on me. It took for ever for them to get over it. I know exactly how you feel. My bed is 4 feet off the floor, I bought the steps and it barely reaches. I couldn't find steps that had 4-5 on them till now. I don't have enought room for them because those steps are too big. I have to be very careful or mine jump off my bed anytime to almost everytime I put them on my bed. |

| You're little one is precious! Don't worry about being a bad mommy, we've all been there. They are so quick. Maggie is just 6 mos old and was jumping off the back of our sofa!!! I think it is about 40". She is all of 3 lbs today so she was much smaller when she was doing this. Talk about scary. I have tons of pillows around the sofa so they can catapult up and jump down from the sofa. A friend of mine lost their dog and gave me their supplies which included a set of steps. It is just the right height of the sofa and they took to it right away. The have the same steps at Walgreens for 10.00 and at CVS also. We've never had them on the bed though. Could your little guy just have puppy weight on him? Maggie was a little round for her size but she has grown taller and thinned out over the past month and half. Sounds like your guy may just have a cobby shape to him. Maggie is now about 8 inches.

| I just wanted to welcome you to YT. You have deffinately picked the right place to come to to talk about your baby. The people here are so NICE and we all have something in common, our babies. I'm glad you've made it through the first few weeks and there will be many more obstacles to cross along the way to the 1st year. You learn as you go and you will fall more in love with each passing day. One minute he will make you mad and then in the very next minute your over it and loving them. It's a up and down thing all the time, mostly up.... Good luck and again welcome to YT....

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Yea, when they are little you have to take care of them like babies. I have a tall bed as well, but now that my baby is 3 he can jump on and off. When he was little he ran across the parking lot and ran head first into the curb, flipped in the air and started yelping.LOL.. Then once he jumped out the truck when he wasn't supposed to and landed on his head. That was the scariest. He cried and cried, but he was okay. He is not 3 yrs old and when I hold him I hold him on my arm and my hand around his chest. I never let him leap from my arms. And he knows the stay command so he doesn't leap from the car anymore. With some time and training you should feel much better. You will have to doggie proof your house for at least a year or so. I crate and pen trained my baby so he had a safe place to stay when I was busy. Now he is old enough to have free roam of the house. Good Luck! |

| oh your baby is soooo ADORABLE!!! I mean hes just a dollface! He does look like he's a little more stout but he does not look overweight to me. He kind of looks like a cross between my 2 boys! Kind of funny. He is built like my little guy but has the coloring of my bigger boy! Stress... yep. I can say I was a mess ... uummm.... at least 3 months when I first got my boys. They were soooo TINY! 2.2lbs and 1.8lbs when I brought them home. Luckily they slept most of the time away. Accidents happen though, its just not possible to keep both eyes fully on them all the time. Id keep him off the bed or couch completely for a few months just to be safe. I didnt let mine up until they were 4 months old. You are a great yorkie mommy. You had a great and rough week with your new baby... you both will adjust to each other and be fine!

| I remember our first few weeks. I remember thinking oh my gosh what have I gotten myself into when the breeder was going over everything from shaving the hair on her ears to making sure she eats enough because of her blood sugar and they are just so tiny. It's hard the first few weeks, but it gets better. I still worry about Fergie and she's almost 2. |

| I'm so glad your puppy is okay. I think most of us can say we have been there. About three weeks after getting Sophie, my boyfriend was sitting on the floor playing with her, and he had her on the bed and she jumped off. Luckily, he has a very low bed and she was okay. Now, anyone holding her is stalked by me, I feel bad, but I don't move and I'm always there waiting to catch her since she has no concept of height. Your puppy is adorable and I'm a little envious, he seems to have a good build to him, he's not as delicate as my sophie. Best wishes to you and your puppy! I think sometimes they are tougher than we think they are. |

| He is ADORABLE!! I spent the first week after we got Emma crying...nonstop. I didn't think I could do it. I was watching her every step. Over-worrying. We even called the breeder to see if we could give her back. I was makin myself sick from the worrying. (i'm good now...lol) First time she jumped off the couch, I freaked. Bought some of the steps. She just chewed on them, tried to drag them off. Jumped OVER them to get down. So now, we've taken the feet/raiser things off the couch so it's sitting right on the floor. It's kinda hard for us to get up off it now....HAHA.....but the things we do for the babies! |

| What a little sweetie you have. I'm so glad that there wasn't any serious injury with the bed jump. It's true these little fiesty pup's think they can do anything. I've had 2 mishaps with one of mine, my first one and they both had me reeling and wondering if I should own a yorkie at all. One accident I don't even know what happened but she broke one of her front legs. The other incident was while she was teethered to my belt loop in the back yard and one of my labs jumped for a toy I took and landed on her She was a wee one at 1.2lbs when both of these accidents happened and is still a very frail girl so I'm more then careful all the time. But, you do get used to it
