| Does your Yorkie Like Cold Weather~? Today it was freezing outside along with rain and it was probably around 30 degrees. I couldn't get him to walk today outside even with his coat I had on him. He won't even go potty outside. He knows where the potty pads are and has been going on that. Is this normal for Yorkies to avoid the weather~? Thank you. |

| He did take a quick run outside twice, but no more. It was so cold for him, he was shivering when he came back in. Maybe he didn't want to go for a walk. Usually he lets me know when he wants out. I have a bell attached to the door. |

| My Bella wouldn't go potty outside until it stopped sleeting. I think I'm in for a long winter. |

| I am in KY also, on the southwestern border, we had rain, wind, and around 40 temps today. We went to the food store, and Harley was shivering just from the car to the front door, with a coat on, and I was carrying him! He doesn't go outside to potty so I don't have to worry about that. He doesn't avoid outside, he believes he must go out whenever anyone goes out the front door, but he sure shivers quickly! Jeri and Harley |

| He does use pads, he is about 90% housebroken. I have never had any luck taking him outside - he just won't go for me. The breeder that I purchased him from had never taken him outside since he had not had all his puppy shots yet, so he was used to pads when I brought him home! He will however go outside for the girls at doggy day care, but will also use his pad there too. It really doesn't bother me that he doens't go outside, becuase I don't want to go out when it is cold and wet either! He will generally not poo while he is left alone and we change his pad atleast twice a day and will mop the bathroom daily so I have never had any trouble with smell or fear of germs. | I had troubles for him to go outside too. I don't know if you all have "Petsmart" where your at, but they have some potty pads that have the scent of grass. From that, my dog associated that with the outside and learned from there. Also, I put the pad outside after he's gone or before (I forgot) for him to associate it to the outdoors. Just trying to help a fellow Yorkie out. |

| We have used the grass scented pads before and still no luck with outside. I just except the fact that maybe my little man is too high maintenance to use the bathroom outside! Jeri and Harley |

| Sasha I think doesn't much care for cold weather. She'll go out and do what she's supposed to do, but then comes right back in right away and doesn't stay out long like she normally would on a nice day. Now when it rains, that's a different story, like today it rained pretty much the entire day and she did NOT want to go out. |

| Where I live the coldest it gets is 40s and 50s. Rarely does it get down to the 30s. The Yorkie that I might adopt was here when it was poring rain and pretty cold (in the 50s I think). He still wanted to walk even in the rain. I dried him after, of course. I suppose it depends on the Yorkie. He doesn't mind going out in the rain to go potty. They are small and get cold easily, so I can see why your Yorkie doesn't like the rain. |

| It's been freezing here too... out of my four, Izze hates the cold the most.... until I got her new coat, she would refuse to even consider going outside... so i think that it is normal for a yorkie... My chihuahua is more tolerant than she is!

| When it rains Callie will hold it as long as she possibly can and will stick her head out the doggy door to check and she if its still raining, sometimes if I know she is holding it to long I will give her a little push and she will go out about a foot on the deck and pee on the outside rug right there and run back in, she will check the weather out the doggy door every 3 minutes thinking its gonna get sunny lol. She gets sooooo sad when it rains because she likeds to play outside so much (it hasent gotten under 50 durning the day I think) so shes still comfortable running around and playing out there but I rub her little ears with my hands when she come in because they feel so cold.

| Olivia will not voluntarily go outside if it's raining...I have to pick her up and take her outside, and then she just keeps running back up to the door without doing her business. If I say "let's go outside" she runs to the patio doors and when she sees it's wet outside, she runs the other way! I finally got her to go out and do her business between rain showers today...it was cold too but I believe it is the rain that bothers her, more than the cold. She will not go on pee pads in the house either (even though her previous owner said she did)...sigh...I am kind of dreading the winter months!

| Allie Allie doesn't like the cold. I had a rug outside for my Chin during the summer that she pees on and then runs back inside. She goes outside, that's not a problem, but she only stays to relieve herself then comes back in. |
