| Deegan is 5 lbs, and is almost 5 months. So he still has some growing to do. I think we all get a little nervous about their weight because the norm is around 7lbs, and we don't expect them to get so big.

| Size doesn't matter I have two females that are good mommies. The older one (5 1/2 years - 9 lbs.) has puppies that are anywhere from 4 lbs to 15 pounds !! The smaller female (3 1/2 years - 6 lbs) has only had one litter. Most of them are all about 4 pounds. Daddy dog is 5 yrs and 4 pounds. I have heard that the females genes are responisble for the size of the babies. But for the life of me, I can't figure out who's responsible!! They're all the same size when they're born. Just some get bigger than others. They all have their own personalities. But sometimes I swear they don't even look like they're related to each other. I have even been told that if I would start imbreeding them, they'd get smaller!! Suz |

Not being within the breed standard is not a "bad" thing. Your yorkie is still all yorkie! | |

| I remember when I took Lacy to the vet at 10 months old and they told me she was 9 lbs. I was so shocked! Not my yorkie baby, she can't possibly be 9 lbs.I though I fed her too much and she didn't get enough exercise or something. Now I know she's normal. There are lotsof yorkies that weigh over 7 lbs. Now she weighs 10.5 lbs and to me she is still so tiny. Until I take her to the groomer. She has lots of yorkies and none of them are over 5 lbs. Sometimes I think to myself wow Lacy you're a horse compared to those tiny yorkies, but I still love her to death. |

| Both of my Yorkies are between 6 and 7 pounds. I don't CARE, but I thought Yorkies were pretty tiny and for some reason, 6-7 pounds doesn't seem "tiny". I think part of it is that you get so accustomed to their size you don't realize they really are little dogs at 6-7 pounds....but just put one next to a Lab and watch out!! |

| Oscar is about 10lbs now and I love him soooo much. I wish the Yorkie standard would change to allow for the larger dogs. Years ago these dogs were naturally larger, so why can't we go back to that? |

| That is big, but not to big to be a lovable Yorkie. Gwen's only 3 lbs. and Skippy's 7 lbs. I am so careful around Gwen because I'm always afraid I'll do something to hurt her. Skip's just a big goof ball that loves to rumble. |
