Big Yorkie! A few months ago my son & I had Mollie at the local dog park and I saw the biggest yorkie I've ever seen. I don't remember how old he was but his owner to me that he was 20lbs. He was an absolutely gorgeous yorkie and not morbidly obese. The vet did say that he needed to lose a few lbs but not enough to make him any less than 15 lbs. I just couldn't get over the fact that he was that large. He was 100% yorkie not a mix. Sheila |
Oh I believe it and I bet he was very handsome. Lenora (browniesmom22) has Brownie, her yorkie, and he is 20 lbs too I think! Also, my uncle has a 13lb yorkie and he's just the most funloving dog I've ever met other than my own. (But as far as Sully is concerned I just don't think they come any better than that, hehe!!!) |

I have a 12 lbs yorkie. His older sister and brother from the same litter are 6lbs and 4 1/2lbs. It happens. It just means there is more to love. |
i prefer the larger yorkies...... my fiance likes to rough house and i always have so may kids around because of family, a small yorkie would get hurt too easily in our lifestyle......... |
When I first got Gracie I had no idea that they ever got any bigger than about 7 lbs just because i had done some research and they all said 4-7lbs...So then a 10lb yorkie seems HUGE but then I saw a 10lb yorkie at the vet and that is still tiny!!! He was small but thick and absolutely adorable!! |
I ran into a lady at our vet's office a few months back and she was telling me about her 6 month old yorkie that weighed 18 lbs and still had growing to do. She was very upset to say the least...just about the size. She said that she wouldn't trade him for the world |
Oh yes, from what I've heard the larger ones are so much more likely to have wonderful temperaments. And though we make a big deal out of what they weigh, a few pounds makes little difference to anyone but us. We're terrible critics, bless their little hearts. I saw the most interesting thing while scrolling the gift exchange sign-ups. There is a yorkie on there and I cannot remember his name, but the member listed his measurements - the SAME as Sully in his neck and chest and height, but Sully is just a few inches longer....and that made all the difference between her dog's 6 pounds, 4 ounces and Sully's 8 pounds, 14 ounces! :rolleyes: Amazing that two or three inches makes a nearly 3lb difference. But nobody would even notice, but us. Like I said, we're our own yorkies' worst critics....and biggest fans too ;) |

I still don't get why the "standard" is 7 lbs and under, since so many people have larger yorkies and its not usually an overweight issue. |

My baby Chanel is 10 lbs...maybe 10.5 ? She has a perfect compact little yorkie body .... I couldn't love her anymore than I already do.... Cheri... who is 5 lbs and she is way more delicate even to touch...so I feel I have to best of both worlds....I love Chanels size - more to love and it doesn't bother me one little bit...but I also love how little Cheri is ...either girl could be 30 pounds and I would still be proud of them |
Even a 10 pound yorkie is still a very small dog. I guess Bo is about 7 1/2 - 8 pounds and he just seems so little to me!! Yorkies rock in any size! |

My babies are all under 7 lbs but if they were 20 I would still love them every bit as much. It would just be more to love. :) |
