Size doesn't matter

I have two females that are good mommies. The older one (5 1/2 years - 9 lbs.) has puppies that are anywhere from 4 lbs to 15 pounds !! The smaller female (3 1/2 years - 6 lbs) has only had one litter. Most of them are all about 4 pounds. Daddy dog is 5 yrs and 4 pounds. I have heard that the females genes are responisble for the size of the babies. But for the life of me, I can't figure out who's responsible!! They're all the same size when they're born. Just some get bigger than others. They all have their own personalities. But sometimes I swear they don't even look like they're related to each other. I have even been told that if I would start imbreeding them, they'd get smaller!! I would much rather have a big Yorkie and not have to worry about breaking it!! I love them all.
