| I brought the new guy home last night. I checked out the place we got him and it was an older grandma who had been doing this her whole life. The facility was small...but nice and clean. The puppies had been socialized around her 10 grandchildren. I took him to Petsmart and got him some toys, food, and other supplies...he weighes exactly 4.8 lbs and is SO adorable! He has short little legs but a BIG personality. He's quiet and doesn't bark but as soon as I walked in the door he was playing with our 80 lb Lab and our 80 lb German Shepherd (both are very gentle as well). We named him Toto (I'm from KS...just seemed perfect!) and my husband LOVES him!! Quote:

| A surprise in weight and lenght I have a Morkie got her when she was 14 weeks old at 1.75 lbs. I was told she would not make 3 lbs full grown She started out looking pure yorkie black and tan short legs and small then took off she is now 6.5 lbs. white ,silver and blonde and long legs .Surprise!! What a transformation I also have 2 other pets a cockerspaniel (Roxie thinks she is mom) and a shih tzu. They all get along just fine .Sisters of all different sizes. Love them all big and small |

| The mixed breeds are just chock full of surprise! You never know what you are going to get....Though I could say the same about purebreds, with my Cavalier King Charles barely making the weight MINIMUM for the breed standard and not having a long fluffy Cavalier coat, LOL!! Love them all anyway!

| if you know the weight of the parents then you will have a general idea of what your pup's weight will be as an adult. |

possibly cuter than the purebreeds, possibly not.. i would consider morkies a breed of their own.. ckc can register them and provide a complete family history if the parents are registered..

I have to say, I am so impressed with Ella Bean - her personality, looks and temperament. I hope that some responsible breeders start 'mixing' these breeds, especially in light of all of the genetic flaws purebreds have. I also LOVE purebreds and totally respect the hard work and dedication of those responsible breeders who work for the betterment of the breed. While a 2 1/2 pound dog like Ella Bean is super teeny, I find her so easy to care for. I really hope that RESPONSIBLE breeders start mixing, breeding for health and temperament as well as size and looks...

| Wishful thinking. Having a piece of paper with the parents names on it does not make a dog a "breed" of it's own. But you know the old saying, "if that's what helps you sleep at night..." |

if the parents are akc registered, then i DO know the history.. to me, personally, i think it is important.. but to each his own. althouigh i do have trouble sleeping unless my morkipoo is with me.. such a soft pillow she is.. the pedigree is my reassurance that they are from good lines.. jmo
