We have 3 Yorkies and one "mutt" - (Rottie/Irish Setter).

We are also Foster parents for Yorkies on death row (or "walking the mile.") I've been very successful in finding homes for all so far. At this time I have just the 4 furbs.

It's like having a houseful of kids (my brother has 11) - everyone stays busy and different ones play together...etc.

Would I change it?

HE** NO!

I have four dogs.
1) Molly, my 7 year/old apricot poodle. She is my first dog and the sweetest dog. When she was a puppy, she was crazy about other dogs, especially poodles. She would cry when she would finish playing with her doggie friends...I also wanted another poodle, so I began my search for another poodle, but...
2) I found my Chachi chihuahua. He's a rescue and was at a rescue organization that I was volunteering at. He was a little bigger than my Molly, but close in size and he looked calm. So I adopted him. When he came home he was a litle maniac, but he has calmed down considerably. He's six years old now... I still wanted another poodle. I wanted a brainy playmate for my Molly....
3) I found my Suzie (2 years old), little cream toy poodle puppy from a show breeder. Chachi thinks that she is his & Molly's daughter. He dotes on her and he loves her. I was not looking for another dog...
4) I found my Isabella, Izze--- I posted about this, but she found me...

Now I am looking for another dog for next year. I would like to adopt a poodle puppy to be close in age with Suzie...and I'd also like to get another yorkie rescue---I think that Izze would like this.

Other than for walks, 3 isn't more difficult that 2. Even walking it isn't bad...but I wouldn't do it because if a dangerous dog come running, it would be hard to scoop them up. It's not worth the risk.
Also, apartments won't usually accept more than 2 dogs... so if it is a possibility that you may have to rent, I wouldn't get the third.

I'm eagerly reading all your replies because I now have two, and am working on getting #3. (My husband is taking some convincing!)

Your insights are great. I definitely see a little female in my future.

Amanda,

the third is really easier, if you have the means... my older two treated my little one like their child and they pretty much supervised her.
And with my rescues, my resident dogs showed them the ropes.

(7) for me.
6 yrs, 5 yrs, 4 yrs, 3 yrs, two that are 2 yrs and Gidget just turned a year. I love them like children and yes it is alot of work and you cant go away anywhere because no one takes care of them the way you do, but they sure bring joy and love. Each has their own personality and you love them in different ways but with all your heart.

You're in the running for the record of most Yorkies owned! How did you end up with 7 yorkies - basically a new one a year for a while there!

Default Like potato chips.....

I have 5 dogs who rule my house. Two toy poodles Asher age 9 and Abby age 10. They are my "big" dogs and are fairly calm and well behaved. Abby is not real sure why all these little dogs keep kissing on her but as long as they stay out of her bed and don't jump on her roughly she is okay with it. Asher acts like a 12 week old puppy since we got the yorkies for him to play with. Then we have our yorkies Isabella age 1, Sasha 10 months, and last but not least Piper our biewer who is about 5 months. For us they seem to like to have a regular structured routine on what time they go to bed, cuddling on the couch in the evening, their playtime outside and even naptime as the 3 little ones all seem to fall asleep at the same time everyday. I have to admit we do tend to structure our daily activities around their needs but as they 3 younger ones are getting older it is getting easier. I love ALL of the quirky personalities!

You'll need to get a love seat too , that chair is getting pretty crowded, but cute poses.

i have 5.... 3 live with me all the time and my ex has the other two.. honestly.. after two another one doesn't make a difference!

it started out with bentley.. then i thought he would like a friend so 4 months later i bought Karlee.. Then my ex and i split and we had joint custody for 2 years.. (i know it sounds crazy but we both love them) then my current boyfriend bought me Parker (my biewer)... then i got Star to keep him company.. and i thought that was all i would have.. but then i saw lily on petfinder and she needed a new home.. so i rescued her!!

I have 4 dogs... 1 ShihTzu and 3 yorkies... My Shihtzu is 1 1/2yrs old, Male yorkie is 8months old, Pebbles is 10 months old and Lexie is 5months old.

They all play with each other and when I go out sometimes I take all 4 if I have my kids with me so each will have a dog to take care of. By myself I take 1 or sometime 2 along.

I just fell in love with the last addition and had to have her so that's how I ended up with 4. I originally fell in love with a yorkie shihtzu mix at a pet store. This would have been my first dog so I did research and found a breeder that had purebred shihtzu's so I got one then had to full fill the other dream...that is how I ended up with the yorkies.

I have a Westie 7 a rescue Scottie about 4 and 3 yorkies, ages 2.5, 2, and 12weeks..They are all such a good pac. We have no food aggresions because I free feed. The Scottie loves to run hard but Manolo and Lola keep up just fine with him but Pablo is still too tiny so I dont let him play when they are running..I love it. You should see when I walk all of them together. They are soo under control. I love dog whisperer..
